The goal of Mordekaiser's rework was to give him a "healthy" home on the rift

Malicious Metal··84 votes·5,323 views

And yet it turned out to be less healthy than he ever was, even worse than 13 health pot morde with his E giving more shield for each unit struck.

What if, pure hypothetically speaking, we were to shift him from an overbearing bot lane bully to a top lane late game hypercarry similar to Jax? He already scales very well with items and levels, having a rather strong lategame capable of taking on nearly anyone one V one.

Now then, why should we even do this? Well, it's due to him seemingly not being able to be healthy while opting him for a duo lane. Yes, the XP passive and Dragon are quite unhealthy and offer little to no counterplay so how about opting him as a heavily scaling Metal monstrosity that haunts top? He'll be able to be tweaked to fit the criteria quite well while still allowing him to be shut down like any other hypercarry due to him being prone to getting ganked.

Just hypothetically speaking, we all KNOW I'm way too biased to make any more assumption as of what the direction of Mordekaiser's fate should be :9

honestly its toxic comments like this that gives the league of legends community a bad name.

Except it's accurate.

The Fiora rework accomplished exactly fuck all except to make her confusing and make people more pissed off with her heal than they were with her previous ult.

The Morde rework is just horrific though. You'd think they would have inflicted this level of stupidity on Riven first, not Morde or Fiora.

CasterGilgamesh3 votes

what was confusing about fiora change?

RISE Shlack1239 votes

Being able to Parry ignite is pretty confusing...

Sounds simple to me, so simple I'll describe it with one word . . . cheap.

CT had nothing to do with Fiora.

uh the Fiora rework wasn't certainly T.

Lazypeon1002 votes

I don't really like the work he's done either, but I think the community needs to chill on the insults.

Dextix LT1 votes

Then he needs to chill on fcking up. The only balanced thing he ever made was zyra after the nerfs. Look at everything else.....

If he wouldnt fck up CONSTANTLY people would chill.

Lazypeon1001 votes

I'm sorry, being subjectively bad at your job doesn't mean he deserves every insult that he gets. At the end of the day, he is a dude just trying to do his job. People call him cancer, hope he dies, etc, and I don't care how bad he is, he doesn't deserve that shit man.

Dextix LT1 votes

I agree noone deserves death threats, but he is objectively bad at his job in designing champions for LOL. And for that he deserves every ounce of critisism he receives.

Lazypeon1001 votes

I totally agree about the criticism. I personally like how unique his champions are, but his designs bring some obvious problems when it comes to balance. On top of that, his communication with the community has been poor.

Dextix LT6 votes

Honestly its CertainlyT fcking up ALL THE TIME that gives him a bad name.

CasterGilgamesh2 votes

i actually like him he makes champions that are fun to play and not as lame as the first few

Dextix LT4 votes

Fun to play and rek AS, but unfun and cancerous to play AGAINST.

His kits are unbalanced to the opponents which makes it hell for them to play instead of being fun.

By the same token, they're also highly skill capped. If you get shit on by a yasuo, he probably knows what he's doing, or you really just aren't as great as you thought you were. Like, sure - him, Kalista, Thresh... they're all pretty powerful. But it takes SKILL to use them. I guarantee if you give me a Kalista, I'll get shit on, because I lack SKILL in playing her. But give me a Yasuo, and I'll do pretty well, because my SKILL level with him is pretty average. It's no different than with any other champion - I mained Mordekaiser before his rework, I carried games easily because I had practiced a lot, and was more SKILLED with him than my opponents were with other champions.

Dextix LT1 votes

HIGH SKILL????

No they are not, the highest skillcap champ he ever made was yasuo.

Thresh, darius, kalista are in no way hard to play. And if you get shit on by them, its not indication of their skill, because their kits are fundimentaly broken! Look at darius! If you are melle, you are screwed 90% of the time. His kit was especially made to counter every melle champ in existance! Look at kalista! Its the same, her kit was also made to counter all melle champs while also giving her eas time against skillshot mages. Yasuo counters almost all skillshot mages. Thresh is the BEST support since his release!

Having "high" skillcap doesnt allow champs kit to be broken, especially since these 4 do not have high skillcap. Their kits are overloaded and unfun to play against since they are unfair.

Du Ma Mi1 votes

Well, I've mained Darius, and played against a lot of them, and let me tell you: If you don't know how to be a big fucking dick in lane, then you're gonna get shit on. It's not about mechanical skill with Darius, it's about timing and decision making, which you need more of than with a lot of other champions, since you're a huge lane bully.

Kalista needs to be able to kite. If you don't know how to kite, you're fucked. Period.

You don't even know how many Bronze-Gold thresh's I see who can't land a hook or a good E for the life of them.

It's all about perspective.

Dextix LT1 votes

These are the basis of basics that everyone above silver knows. Just because you need to have basic skill of playing doesnt mean that something requires high skill.

Its not about perspective

Oh look to play adc you have to know how to cs, WOW SUCH SKILL MUCH WOW.

Seriously, if someone like darius, who is given the tools to dominate lane and kill anyone who comes near is hard to play, then someone like xerath or vel'koz are impposible to play.

CertainlyT champs not only need only basics skills to play, they even make it easier to to play iwth those skills. Look at kalista and other adcs, which of these adc has an innate tool for easy kiting? Yeah, kalista with her passive.....

I will repeat, just because you need to have a basic skill of playing a game and it seems hard to you because you are silver doesnt mean that champ is hard to play.

Chespin20138 votes

But what about mid Morde? I loved playing him as a glass cannon in the midlane before his rework.

Blue Moon Wolf4 votes

I normally liked to play him mid as well, but as a tanky mid. That way I would easily survive ganks and take those bursty champs out by using AP/ Health Items like item 3116 or item 3151

RISE Shlack1235 votes

If a champ can go top, odds are they can be run mid as well.

Malicious Metal4 votes

Yeah, it was bad wording on my part. Pardon me.

If he would be shifted back into a solo position he'd be able to play both mid and top again, being a great anti-assassin would make him a valuable pick against the likes of yasuo, zed, talon, fizz and so on, all of which usually lurk in mid.

RISE Shlack1238 votes

I agree. This rework was an utter failure, and Worlds simply pounded that home. Riot can't just put their fingers in their ears and pretend not to notice when the international community has the spotlight on this abomination.

They should revert Morde and give him a new kit that revamps his original kit and put him back in a solo lane. You can take any melee champ bot if you want to run a duo bruiser kill lane, so it's nothing new or exciting. Not only is this idea not new, giving him his W passive and Dragon pet is just light years beyond irrational. They essential broke the game to give him a new identity that neither fits his theme nor the game itself.

And CertainlyT needs to take a break from champion design - his designs have been getting more and more ridiculous over the past year or so.

I can't agree with this.

He can work as a melee character for an adc, but the current issue is the exp gain. That is the problem in his kit right now, nothing else.

RISE Shlack1235 votes

We both agree on the exp gain. So why the downvote? Because we disagree on how to fix his problematic kit? We both agree it's broken...

The rework was not a failure.

Q and E had no difference outside of being in melee or not, now one gives a shield more and the other is raw damage.

His Ult now has additional utility and his passive was streamlined to be more useful as a shield.

The issue is the EXP gain.

Calling his rework an utter failure is something I cannot agree with.

RISE Shlack1235 votes

Agree or disagree is your right. But the one area we both agree is the EXP gain. I'd go a step further and say the Dragon pet is a problem. Both the exp gain and the dragon pet are what make Morde oppressive in competitive play, in my opinion (as well as the pros).

We can disagree on how to fix him - that's healthy. But you don't have to downvote because we don't agree on the semantics. Whatever happened to healthy conversation? Downvoting doesn't promote healthy discussion.

Reddit systems, and it sucks a lot. But I do use it.

You really think that's conducive to healthy debate? Anonymous downvoting and keyboard warriors bashing each other all the time? If that's your approach to real life after you get out on your own, you're going to be ill-prepared for real conversation with real people.

That is how reddit works, not real life.

You downvote with what you don't like and upvote what you do.

Don't compare the two.

You can choose to ignore my advice, but just wait until you're confronted with something you disagree with in real life. Comparing the two in this digital age is very much relevant. But I expected a response like the one you gave, thus proving my point. Have a great day! =]

You are trying to say that showing disapproval is a bad thing.

And have a good day.

Croanin6 votes

I want them to revert the rework also. I think it's kind of a spit in the face to past Morde mains to force him into a duo lane. I mean his W is garbage when he's alone. Could you imagine if Riot did this to Riven or Lee Sin?

Malicious Metal3 votes

They tried... and failed.

Guess ranting enough and being a popular champion does give you quite a bit of plot-armor.

pWasHere3 votes

I think his effect as someone bot lane who isn't just and adc is interesting and something Riot likes, regardless of Morde mains, even if he is overdoing it right now.

I don't think we are going to see him leave bot any time soon.

Rozzeta3 votes

Same problem as Sona rework. More flashy particles that solved absolutely nothing.

DragonShea3 votes

Morde should have been built like the other juggs but instead got shoehorned into bot. This is one colossal error of judgement by riot to let him down but as ADC. ADC's have high damage, low to low-mid durability. that is exactly what morde has become. A Melee ADC. NOT a juggernaut. Because he lacks durability aside from his passive.

ZT Xperimentor1 votes

His passive is even more difficult to keep up since most conventional adcs can kite him with ease (caitlyn, lucian, kalista, jinx, vayne, ext). I concur this was a blunderous error that should never have happened.

And yet they failed on making his E the Shield filler as his passive is broken.

Agreed; maybe if they didn't make his q & w worthless beyond melee range, it'd be easier since it'd be more consistent.
