Riot giving Annie more Damage/Mobility shows they are still clueless about League's biggest Problem

This game in its current state is frustrating to play.

You either get blown up in an instant by someone jumping in your face multiple times (hello Akali/Irelia) or lose almost half your health because you didn't dodge one single skillshot.

Damage is so high that League did not become more exciting, no, it became incredibly boring and frustrating trying to get off one combo at least before sitting in front of a grey screen again.

Instead of toning down this high damage/mobility creep, you are trying to go full fiesta by giving more conventional champs like Annie and A'Sol more initial damage or mobility.

From my point of view, that is definitely not the direction this game should be continuing to take.

"More damage"

She is losing damage btw.

Edit: Read the third line under Summon Tibbers and third line under Molten Shield. She lost more damage than those number buffs will give.

Edit 2: Just tried in practice tool and enrage tibbers can fit 2 autos in during the stun on Summon (3 if the last auto can't be flashed since it's mid animation, I'll figure that out later). That's 2 (3) X 50 / 75 / 100 (+ 15% AP) damage on the initial burst while you're stunned. But somehow buffing the base damage of the summon by 10 is a bigger problem.

She's losing a lot to actually get some ability to engage without flash. Of course whiners just see damage and cry. 20% damage reduction lost is huge and so is the cd.

Why is riot giving a historically immoble champ more mobility while at the same time reducing her defenses? A tiny bit of speed burst for a big loss of defensive uptime seems like a terrible trade off.

I don't see how this helps her overall game mid or support.

Whoo, back to the days of forgetting Tibbers exist and only using him as a nuke and tower tank!

Because who cares about champion identity.

She is LOSING damage. These are straight nerfs. This never even hits damage neutral.

She is also losing a lot of survivability.

Edit and tibbers is also losing straight 40% reduced damage taken and thorns.

I see 2 buffs and 4 nerfs.

Buffs:

  • R does slightly more damage immediately

  • E 50% movement speed on E for 1.5s

Nerfs:

  • R 2-3 initial auto-attacks removed

  • R defense and damage with E removed

  • E halved defense

  • E cooldown increased by 60%

The numbers on her Ult

So it is a Nerf to the overall damage of about 40 dmg (with 0 ap at lvl6) to 115 dmg (with 500 ap at lvl16) But it is also a buff to the initial spell of about 10 dmg (with 0 ap at lvl6) to 60 dmg (with 500 ap at lvl16) A full spellrotation on an adc will still most likely nuke them but the overall dps got hit pretty hard due to Tibbers attaching less

And the 10 dmg buff is stupid but nice placebo buff to drag attention from bigger changes

Though I agree that damage being high in league is definitely an issue, I don't see this as adding to the problem. The reason I say this is because higher damage is not inherently the issue. It's higher damage without the ability to fight back that is the true issue.

Take a look at urf, it's actually one of the funnest game modes according to the majority of league players. In that mode, damage is off the charts. But also, you see increased movespeed and ability to counterplay against that damage.

Riot has been releasing champions that have power creeped more and more into urf mode. That is definitely a fundamental problem with league. However, there's actually two ways of fixing that. One is to nerf the fundamentally broken champs and the other is to actually give more counterplay options to the earlier champions.

In that context, this would be giving power to counterplay with the move speed as the ultimate damage should honestly be pretty similar with the loss of tibbers enrage.

Tldr: Annie is being buffed to feel more fun to play against OP champions instead of nerfing those OPs.
