Why was Runaan's Hurricane been reworked into a Crit Item?

In Patch V5.22 Runaan's Hurricane got reworked into a Crit item, here's its previous stats...

Runaan's Hurricane

+70% Attack Speed.

Unique Passive: Your basic attacks fire minor bolts at 2 nearby targets, each dealing 10 + 50% of your Attack Damage. These apply on-hit effects.

Build Path: x2 Daggers (600g) + Recurve Bow (1000g) + 1000g = 2600g

I know that the items previous stats weren't anything special but let's be realistic about something, most if not all crit marksman skip out on buy Runaan's Hurricane as a Crit item.

In fact the only champions who use it are On-Hit Marksman such as; Kog'Maw, Varus, Kalista, though some exceptions apply to; Ashe, Twitch and Jinx

Because it was a meme item that no one bought for that time.

But, they could do two versions of item 3085 , one for crit and one for on hit, just like melee's have item 3074 item 3748

If I recall correctly it was because on hit builds kinda sucked at the time and riot wanted to make it a usable item in a crit meta. Now I feel like no one would buy it if it didn't have the crit changes

It was originally a niche on-hit and wave clear item but no one got it. Basically for an ADC crit is king and it had neither crit nor AD. For me the biggest drawback to the item is I question if riot had enough on hit items to justify it, as not all ADCs have on hit effects. Wits end is weird and nashor's requires a lot of AP support.

There's another problem with the old hurricane and that is that AS by itself is kind of problematic: there aren't many skills that scale well with AS.

Riot could remove the crit, but unless they replaced it with AD or an on-hit effect and actually tried to support more on-hit stuff through items, such a course would be a tough sell.

iirc it was because marksmen itemization was homegenized due to zeal becoming an ASP+crit+MS item. That was the same reason why trinity force became a crit item and stinger replaced zeal in its build path.

She didn't exist in Season 5...

She didn't even exist in Season 6 or 7.

To say this change was for her is a bad assumption

I don't think that's what he/she meant buddy. He probably meant that Kai'Sa is also one of the champions who is a user of this item.

But in all honesty, I don't really see Kai'sa players or even Kai'Sa mains buy it.

The topic was about why it was reworked.

It clearly wasn't reworked for her.

Even though she can use it, it's still not answering the question or putting in anything meaningful to the conversation. It's like you go to a dinner party and start screaming pineapple everywhere when they bring you your plate of food. Sure, it's related to food, but it's not related to the things that are happening around you.
