There is no reason why Zed should be nerfed while Rammus shouldn't

First of all, this is not meant to say that Zed is balanced: he is definitely too strong currently. I'm not a Zed main either (I main his wet dream, immobile mages) so don't accuse me of being biased towards him.

Currently people are complaining that Rammus/Malphite/whatever shouldn't be nerfed as they don't have a high win rate because they are too strong, but because they just fit the marksman heavy, low AP meta very well. One could argue that's true and that they don't deserve to be nerfed just for being in the meta.

However, exactly the same case can be made for Zed. What does Zed love? A meta full of squishies, preferably AD, as there are no AD armor items (except for Ezreal, which is one of the reasons why he does well in an AD meta) and most marksmen don't have hard CC to lock him down (most mages are able to CC him once he ults), and finally a lack of semi-tanky bruisers (Fiora is an exception) as he hates those. What does the current meta feature? Exactly. But still everyone is complaining about Zed being OP and having to be nerfed.

So why should one champion be nerfed because he loves the current meta, while the other shouldn't? Unless you want to tell me that Boards users aren't all 100% rational people, which is obviously not true, right?

Very sensible thread. Unfortunately pretty much every time a non-mobile non-assassin gets nerfed or is overwhelmingly strong (think 55%+ win rates, even), people will come onto the boards to say "it's not the champion's fault!". There are people who would genuinely be happy to keep champions like Malphite at 57% win rates for months on end (basically at freelo status) just because they've been conditioned to think that if a champion isn't super flashy and outplay based, it can't be too strong.

Champions have always been nerfed even when their primary problem is just fitting the meta too well. Heck, Sivir got hit like 5 times last season just because she loved the hard engage team fight meta it had for so long. Fitting the meta is never a reasonable excuse to avoid a nerf.

If champions don't deserve to get nerfed for doing too well in the meta then nobody would be nerfed.

Rammus, Malphite both deserve nerfs.

Zed isn't doing well only because of the meta. He's doing well because he gets a metric fuckload of armor pen thrown at him for building his primary defensive item and his primary burst combo item.

In other words, Zed's problem is that his itemization makes him too strong too early, easy to snowball, and doesn't fall off until too late.

Ad's have less armor pen this season than they did last season. Last whisper got a massive nerf and maw gives 10 pen. 10. If itemization is an issue that isnt a zed problem. any AD can build hexdrinker.

That's completely false. They have access to more, earlier, cheaper flat pen via masteries and item 3134

So when you're a Zed looking to blow up squishies, the flat pen is infinitely better at accomplishing that goal than the old Last Whisper ever was. Last season, getting the 20 pen was on a 30 AD item with a strong active. Now it's a 65 AD item. Last season, Maw had 14 less MR and no armor pen. And while any AD can build a Ghostblade + Maw for their first two items, the majority of ADs are more reliant on attack speed, crit, or other factors that prevent them from getting the whopping power spikes Zed gets from each component and each finished item.

TBH, I have no idea why I'm wasting my time explaining such a completely fucking obvious thing.

I like how this Zed main is complaining about Rammus not getting nerfs when there are Rammus nerfs currently on the PBE as of yesterday.
