Scuttle Crab should be an optional choice, not a MANDATORY OBJECTIVE

Title. Scuttle Crab should be a little something extra you want to get for the little movement speed buff in river.

Riot, why did you make it mandatory to get scuttle to succeed? Can you give us any feedback? Do Rioters even look at the boards anymore? I am seeing overwhelming negative feedback on these jungle changes. Can we get SOMETHING

It's because (mainly) toplaners have been asking for nerfs to both gank rushes and junglers in general for months. Rioters listened to the boards, which is why the Scuttle ended up as a jungler objective.

Because Scuttle being a core objective for junglers to fight over is basically one of the few ways you could effectively penalize junglers for ganking early instead of farming. Which is what toplaners have been asking for. But by nature, as with every role-wide nerf, the dominant junglers remain dominant, and the weaker junglers get hit harder.

TLDR: Toplaners got what they want, jungler meta remains the same, but the weaker junglers are weaker than before.

it should also not be rng

terrible design... 1 minute is not enough to adapt pathing.... the enemy jg can just take it by randomly being closer.... very unfair and stupid

they could jus put a map mark for where the next one will spawn at ALL times... like a little drawing in the scuttler shrine area

I think Riot had the right idea, but the wrong execution. Before it was kinda...meh. I've seen games where people have almost completely forgotten about it (including 30 minute mark and realizing that bottom crab still hasn't actually died yet). So putting some more priority on it, instead of it being an afterthought for anyone who wasn't Kindred, was a good idea. They just...didn't do it well.

I always thought the scuttle was an important objective, doesn't even matter if it gives Xp or Gold. It's a major vision point and a movement speed buff. There was no reason to overbuff this thing.

Dont get how its mandatory... You have wraiths and gromp and krugs you can take instead of scuttle, or start opposite side of the enemy jungler to avoid combat and then get the scuttle with no challenge.

i just wish they would make the game less about rng its getting really annoying random scuttle spawn, 3 infernals, getting 5 sacks of gold within 5 minutes with klepto (legit happened to me when playing ezreal lol the amount of sacks i get is unreal) and the best thing ofc is crit these things make the game less fun imo

How is it mandatory? Early game it gives less gold than gromp. Later it's more valuable but it's still only 1.5 cannon minions.

It actually is optional still. I have seen plenty of junglers completely ignore scuttle unless its on there way and available. The reason why though is because in alot of solo que games, ganks succeed like 90% of the time so just farming bot lane feeders is worth more money and exp.

Maybe in plat 1+ this isnt true as much but here below that ( 1 account in gold, 1 in plat) the jungler prioritizing scuttle doesnt get a noticeable lead and can miss out on affecting the lanes.

i've actually found (and observed) that farming junglers are better off ignoring scuttle until the end of their path, just checking it like they did before.

kayn can go chickens>red>wolves>blue>gromp>check scuttle>invade chickens or kruggs>b>kruggs>chickens>wolves>gromp and still be ahead of an enemy who took one scuttle

Filthy heathen, accept our lord Scuttle into our life

If forum archives had a search box, I'd be slamming the quote of Ghostcrawler stating powercreeping is something that must be avoided at all costs when he took over Morello's position.

Yet, here we are, in 2018. An entire role wide nerf that makes junglers without pre-6 presence absolutely trash, and early game gankers the ONLY viable champions in the role. If you can't compete for Scuttler, you fall behind. What EVER happened to just, simply, nerfing the champions back into the pool?

I'm just glad I started picking up Kha'Zix as a pocket pick before this (out of necessity rather than enjoyment), for a patch where if you're NOT playing a strong early game jungler, you're purposefully shooting yourself in the foot. RIP Nocturne, RIP Evelynn, RIP tank junglers, RIP the slow clearers.

Whenever Riot adds or reworks a certain global objective, it's frequently a case of the feature either being so inconsequential as to be ignored, or so overwhelmingly important that it warps the entire game around itself. On-release Rift Herald is the former, and the new Scuttle is the latter. Ideally Scuttle, just like any other objective, should be valuable enough to fight over, but shouldn't be so important as to set junglers multiple levels ahead or behind based on whether or not they capture it, and snowball off of it thereafter. Hopefully, we'll see changes in the future that will tone down the rewards attached to Scuttle, but even then, that may also not entirely solve the problem of the objective being both randomized and heavily dependent on lane influence.

all riot had to do was delay the XP gain of junglers across the board early game, or make camps spawn faster to incentive more farmin but nah gimmick design op
