Jayce mains - please give some feedback

Hi - I play a ton of ranked toplane. I do not play jayce though as he's just not my style. Still, I understand the basics about him - items, runes, combo's. I feel like when he's good/playable, he can be overly oppressive early, but falls off rather hard late - primarily because adc's just out-dps him and he has no time to get off proper poke in most teamfights nor the safety of being able to go melee form unless the fight is already decided in his team's favor. So I've given it some thought and come up with a series of changes I think could be good for him, but would like feedback from knowledgeable jayce players.

  1. Completely nerf his melee damage - at least the base portion of it to make him not win trades in BOTH melee AND ranged forms early game; have melee form be for disengage and mana regen/collection only. Melee autos would still do normal amount of damage; abilities would be weak damage primarily used for their effects (disengage, slow, mana collection).
  2. In compensation for 1, his mana regen/collection in melee form is tripled or something along this line to make it actually meaningful and worth putting yourself in danger by being in melee instead of ranged.
  3. Possibly SLIGHTLY buff ranged e+q combo early game to compensate for weak melee spell damage.
  4. Give much better scaling to jayce's e+q combo so it's late game damage is much more meaningful. I don't know what the ad ratio would have to change by, but definitely boost the ad scaling ratio a decent amount.
  5. Maybe add a scaling range on his w with levels 6/11/16 to give him more aa trading power in teamfights too. This would allow him to compete better with longer ranged adc's by late game; not eat 2+ autos before being able to trade damage with them.

Hi! I would like to add my 2 cents into your ideas as I am kind of a Jayce one-trick. The changes you are proposing would transform jayce into either a general champ all game length or a late game hypercarry. The real question is, why? Jayce has a very clear play style with a very counter play, the moment he doesn't get ahead it pretty much means he won't be very useful, jayce has evolved into a skill dependant champ that requires you to use all your skills in order to be succesful, if you decide to make him a late game hyper carry, his full hammer form will be wasted, as it basically would mean leaving your main damage form ( cannon) and diving into an adc who will have way more damage than you. This changes that you propose throw away what makes him unique, his double form and forces him to rely more on his cannon form. So long story short, he is in a perfect spot right now, no need to make any changes on him. He is an early game oppressive champ just like he is intended to. Have a great day![slayer-jinx-wink]
