Rek'Sai update
Could someone tell me why Riot is doing work on Rek'Sai atm? I just learned of this news and I think it's a bit strange since she's relatively new compared to other champions. Thanks for the explanation!

Rek'Sai brings alot of utility for the team with knock-ups, her tremor sense and global pressure because of her ult. That's why she was a pretty famous pick in pro play. Unfortunately, since she was really successful, they had to remove alot of her damage. So her building path changed, she wasn't built as the diver she was supposed to be and her playstyle adjusted to be a vanguard instead.
So basically, Rek'Sais only job now was to go in the enemy team with her tunnel and knock them up while tanking the damage. She really basically just became a knock-up bot. Her damage is extremely low right now, her utility is all that is left what she is bringing.
But that is not how it should be. Rek'Sai was designed as a predator, being a great counter jungler, finding the enemy jungler with tremor sense and killing him. Initiating fights with knock-up and then dish out damage.
She doesn't live up to that fantasy anymore. So they are changing her kit to fit more into the role of a diver. As far as I know, they want to reduce her utility for example. The first enemy (right in the center) will get knocked up while everyone around will get knocked away (if this is still correct).
She is fairly new, that's why she doesn't need a full VGU like other champs. Her model is pretty modern. So she receives a mini rework ala Shyvana. There are more new champions which will receive the same treatment in the future. Kalista and Azir come to mind, both being nerfed to oblivion because they were too successful and need more focus in their kit.

Long ago, she used to actually deal dmg. That was too much in combination with her ult, sustainability, and many other things, which made her a competitive pick for a long time.
Riot gradually stripped power away from her over time, until she became her former state, where she's only a tanky knock-up bot.
