The ability to climb into better games is more dependent on win rate vs individual performance? I'd like to hear some thoughts on this. For starters, I'd like to only be paired up with players that have similar afk rates to myself.

rework trundle1 votesYeah because you're evaluated about how much you can bring to a team. If you're useless, you will win less often on average than someone who actively impacts the outcome of the game (by getting kills, shotcalling, roaming, getting objectives, etc)

There is a good reason they finally removed personal performance in Skill Rating despite it being one of their most bragged about concepts for ranked. They basically said they were "changing" the game with this revolutionary idea.
Granted they use it for low elo but the only people it truly affects now are smurfs who stats would be similar to going 20/0/1 for comparison in league.

TempName748141 votesMMR does move smurfs up rapidly. if a diamond smurf buys a bronze account, they're going to have diamond mmr within the week (see: that one tf blade wannabe with clickbait videos)

But With division skipping in league smurfs skip pretty much just as fast.
So it is still debatable why they still have it for lower elo.
The majority of OW community rejoiced when they removed it.
