"I don't play ______"

BestKarthusEU··3 votes·1,416 views

Why do these people exist?

I hate when you want to play a certain role, but then someone says, no please, I need to mid, because I don't know how to jungle. Or how to adc. Or support.

Half of the time I just tell them, you're gonna learn then, and lock in wherever I was going to go in the first place. But then they end up feeding really hard.

I know it sounds like I'm complaining (and I am), but it's just annoying when people say they can't play a certain role.

At level 30 you should know how to play every role decently well.

There's "play" and "play well at this level".

I "can" play jungle. At gold + elo? Nope.

My Jungling in ranked is me trying to gank and trying to smite objectives. If those don't work out, I'm a complete deadweight. I have friends I regularly play with who want jungle, and as such I rarely play it on my own to practice.

Of the 8 jungle games I played last season, I only won 1. My advice to the OP: Believe me when I tell you "I'm a terrible jungler."

Certain roles just aren't going to click for some people, jungle takes a lot more to play effectively than PVE for the first 10 minutes and gank overextended enemies, you have to consider invades, objectives, counterganks, lane matchups, tracking the enemy jungler, and try to still be useful with reduced gold and xp compared to laners. People could have tried to learn these roles but just not been able to do it. Sure I could spend the time to learn to be an effective junger, or I could go mid and end up 8/0 out of laning phase and carry the game. You don't need to learn every role, but since you're the person advocating it and who seems to think that you do know every role, why not fill? You clearly think you're qualified to do so, and it would give your team the best chance of winning since more people would be playing something they're comfortable with.

In fact, let me fix the title for you

"I'm too distracted by my own ego to fill and would rather just rush to the forums and complain about how I deserve to be higher but my team is holding me back"

There, much more accurate

Normally in soloqueue I "don't" play support simply because it is harder to carry and win and you depend on randoms to get kills which based on my experience in soloqueue is a bad thing to do lol.

Why are you complaining about people who can't play a role, you're probably not great at all roles either.

I have my better roles, like all people, but I'll never say "Oh sorry, I can't play adc". I love playing roles I don't usually do so that way I can improve. I wish other people were like that.

You literally just answered your own post. "I have better roles...." People say they can't play a role not because they literally can't play it but because they aren't as proficient at that role as they are in another. Why are you even complaining about this topic?

There's a huge difference between "I am not good with adc, but I'll play it anyways to try and improve" (what I think people should do) and "I can't play adc, so I'm going to burden the team and complain and force people to play other roles because I don't want to improve myself as a League player" (What I'm actually complaining about)

Why do you care if they force other players to play other roles.... You literally just said you would play any role to improve in it... So why does it matter what role you are in and what role the other person is in ?

This is called projecting.

You have two people. Both want to do A equally as much, but person 2 is more willing to do B than person 1. What do you think the optimal solution to maximize happiness is? To make Person 1 to B out of spite or moral indignation?

No one has ever said the second quote except you. There are plenty of reasons to practice multiple roles, one being the versatility. There is also reason to practice one role exclusively: to be actually good at that role. Specialization is not a bad thing. It's not selfish to only know how to play one role. It's unwise to main mid and be shit with everything else, but it's not selfish.

Yo, a ranked game when you're in promo isn't really time to improve that role you suck at.

If you hear someone say that it's best you try to dodge and wait a few minutes, because even one trick pony's can play 1 champion about anywhere. Those people also have a lack of understanding to the other roles a person that only mids won't know when a shyvanna ganks or evelynn etc. vision restricted you could say..

last night I had a gangplank and illaoi both lock in top maybe in a duo lane they would work. ok, but now we will have 2 champions that are only good at split pushing. whether or not they say they're a diamond 1 smurf mid or feed they are only going to go down in elo so don't let them thresh pull you down xd

You can't play this role? Well it's never to late to learn. But arguably, you still want all your runes and masteries available, before you can take up Jungling. But you probably shouldn't miss this opportunity to learn a new position. (unless your trying to optimize your teams experience for a ranked match.)

My problem comes when people expect you to play your role a certain way. I can make sure I have one or two midlaners I'm good with. But that does not give me a lot of teamcomp and counter pick options.

I can play all positions, but that doesn't mean I'm good at all of them. I'm best at support, and probably somewhere between cardboard 4 and plastic 3 at jungling.

i mean, for me it's not so much "i can't play adc" as it is "you do not want me to be playing adc, please take one for the team and let me play another role so we can actually win"

can i adc? sure. at a bronze level. and i don't mind doing it in norms. but in ranked if i get stuck with adc, against gold adcs that actually know what they're doing, im pretty fucked.

Catastrop1 votes

I don't play Jungle because I might as well just get reported for intentional feeding. Sometimes it's simple as that, they're shit at the role no matter what.

YumScrumptious961 votes

I agree, if I enter queue and get mid, yet someone who wants mid but is last pick says they can't play whichever role they are stuck with, I question why they even entered ranked. You may be best at one role but before doing ranked people should know how to play every other role. All the other people commenting that if they are bad and can do well with the role you have should realize that, the reason you want your certain role is the reason you're bad. Can't jungle? Probably because you refuse to do anything but your main role. Learn the roles, practice them all, then enter ranked.
