@Riot Do you have any plans for Karthus?

Hey Riot,

Just a curious Karthus main here. Do you have any plans for him? Honestly I'm not even looking for a "yes we're buffing him", it's just I haven't heard ANYTHING about him and was wondering if there's anything you'd be willing to talk about.

Oh, and is there a specific Rioter responsible for Karthus? I wanna know who my favorite is. Although I don't ever think I'll love any Rioter more than Rhojin.

I DIGRESS! Thanks for taking the time to read.

Karthus looks a bit strong at present. So however do many Catalyst users. We believe Catalyst and or the items it builds into are too strong. We're going with item nerfs as a result. We'll then reassess Karthus, Swain, Aurelion Sol, Anivia etc to see where the core users of that item are sitting.

Edit: Clarified phrasing a bit.

Will the nerfs to Catalyst effect it's build into items like RoA?

All of these have toggled abilities that consume mana over time. Putting an exclusion on this type of ability, or a cap/limit on this type of ability could be a way to fix this without hurting other champions.

If this is not already the plan, please consider it. <3

We started with lower healing rates for toggled spells when first looking at Catalyst nerfs. Overall conclusion though was that it was also just a bit strong in general, even on non toggle spell champions, hence the more general nerf to 20% mana spent healing instead of 25%.

would you consider giving it more mana per stack. right now most of the mana is at purchase and u gain 100 with stacks which is lame. making glp items more appealing.

Instead of nerfing catalyst just because of these champion, wouldn't it have been easier to just nerf it for toggle abilities? Because on ''normal'' mages it feels kind of ''meh'' and now it will be even worse...

Swain's nerfs seem like they will either gut him, HEAVILLY change his playstyle, or both. Any thoughts?

Hey Meddler,

Thanks for the reply. I'll agree that I've been rushing RoA on Karthus now because the amount of sustain it gives him in lane is very strong.

Appreciate the knowledge and good to know that the old Deathsinger is still being considered by the big people at Riot :)

for Karthus specifically why would he be a bit strong. With zero mobility no hops dashes or flashes ect wouldnt the benefit be a little extra power elsewhere? I personally think hes average since you can dodge the Q and there are several ways to dodge the R also. Someone was talking about trying to balance the mobility creep for the champs with none. Wouldnt Karthus be a good example of a non-mobile champ with good dmg but that can be negated by his enemies?

Ye they're gonna lower his Q mana cost by 50, realize that was a mistake, so they're gonna triple his ult cooldown and then in the next season update they're gonna tell you how healthy his kit is now
