is heimerdinger better at top or mid?
i'm not sure which lane he is better at. I went top and mid heimerdinger once but I still don't get how he helps the team

Its based on the enemy, because if they are ranged, his turrets wont be going for them too much, but if they are melee, hes anoying as fuck to fight against. It doesnt matter tha lane, its only the matchup.

yeah this makes sense. Would you recommend any runes and mastery on him?
he helps the team by being a complete nuisance by pushing hard and taking 2+ to deal with him (typically). Usually he is better at going top because it is alot easier to split push than mid.
I prefer top since enemy top lane is usually ad, so once heimer gets
into
he cannot be 1v1'd in lane.
I like to take him top, and just provide constant pressure.. and if your fed, the better pressure you give.. because your now forcing 2-3 enemies up top to come get Lil Ol you. When in that time your team can be taking other objectives. like dragon, bot turret, or mid turret.
If you find youself in the situation of 3 people coming for you.. Lay down your super turret and TP out. TP is better than backing because it's un-interruptable if you get hit and they do try to dive you.
Most of the time you will make a clean get away and the diversion was a success!
he's cancer everywhere
Botlane you need to take him full AP with a support. NEVER as a support lest your ADC will be starved.. xD
Works well with a
Support THAT LANE... full cancer.. [slayer-pantheon-popcorn]
bot lane combo is hilariously entertaining.
ohh lol
Nah he can support you just make the turrets a gank-blocking wall in the river and use your other abilities to harass. or drop a turret for brush coverage in the lane. Pretty easy to place them without sapping cs
I think he's much better top against immobile melee tanks
i feel like heimerdinger suits siege comps pretty well by playing the role of the guy who makes hard engaging into the siege comp a risky business
seriously engaging teamfights into an enemy team with a heimer can turn to disaster pretty fast if you're not careful about his turret placement and such
Heimer is a sieging Champion. Once laning phase is over, he does best when his team can push up to a turret and he can lay down his own turrets. They, along with the team, will destroy the enemy minion waves and they can push down the towers. Heimer's ult is very versatile, letting him use it in different ways. Ult+Turret: drop when you need a lot of sustained damage. If they hard engage and you aren't fast enough to stun them, or if they engage under your tower or in another small area like Dragon pit, etc. the turret will deal a metric shitton of damage over its duration - however it needs to stay up and have enemies within range for a long period of time to do it. Ult+Rockets: Can be used either for a massive burst on one target or laying down a heavy wave of suppressive fire. I usually use it to nuke down their carry but you can use it to clear out a wave quickly if you need to clear up the field for your team. Ult+Grenade: An excellent initiation tool, if you're sieging their tower but they aren't engaging you can chuck that grenade and usually stun 2-3 of them if they are sticking under the tower. They lets your team fold on them and delete them.
Heimer has a hard time in more mobile games where the teams are constantly chasing each other back and forth across the map and through the jungle since they will constantly be moving out of range of his turrets. He also doesn't do as well against AoE mages or poke comps as they will have an easier time wiping his turrets.
