Win/loss yo-yo: Is it just me?

My luck generally runs to the weird so this experience could be unique to me but: I will win a lot rank up be like 11-2 over a few days, then not win again for a week and when i am Wood V with 0 L.P. rip off another win streak. . . And round and round it has gone this season since I started playing ranked. So can anyone who understands the math of match making/ELO/MMR explain this scenario? Or is anyone else having similar trouble? Or do I need to see a witch doctor to fix this bad ju-ju I got on me?

One of the things I started doing recently was ensuring I had Autofill protection before a ranked game. That does mean suffering through a game of Support in a normal, but it has really helped in that I'm never dumped into a bad situation personally. By not being autofilled myself, ever, it has actually sort of evened out how many of my games go.

Another thing I've always done is limit myself to 3 to 5 ranked games a day. Prevents burnout and huge loss streaks to some extent. Even if I win 5 in a row, I force myself to stop. That kind of good fortune won't last, and any gambler will tell you that you will lose unless you walk away from the table while you're ahead. In this way, my good days outweigh my bad days, and I climb a little faster and fall a little slower.

You can't really control what other players do. You can only do the best you can. Eventually you'll break through it.

If you lose a game, stop playing. You're always a little tilted from a lose, so take a break, do something relaxing. Then come back when you're excited about playing again.
