Does Teemo counter Vladimir, or is it just me? I was playing as Vlad (top) and this Teemo just walked all over me. The main problem was that his poke was doing more damage than mine, so he would win every trade and just dominated the lane.
Is it the matchup, or am I doing something wrong? Any advice?
Revolver and spirit visage and you win. Don't try to poke him early on. Vlad's early game is bad. Focus on sustain. Once you've gotten revolver and sirit visage you'll heal back all the damage he does to you. Since he's squishy you q with draint he hell out of him. Avoid using your e too much at early levels and you'll be fine. You should actually counter Teemo just not early on.
A competent vlad really can't lose to teemo. Just don't take free damage. Giving up CS is better then taking free poke in the early game. You also are not required to build pure AP on vlad, he functions absolutely fine as a DPS drain tank.
Vlad has a weak lane phase vs teemo but once he's got a couple items he shits on teemo assuming he didn't feed.
I would say you are doing something wrong as Vlad tends to crush teemo, or at least that has been my impression of the match up as I have yet to see Teemo actually win it.
You don't do more poke damage as vlad but you beat teemo via your sustain. Rush your revolver and then build according to his build. He going on hit or AP? Build an Abyssal or Spirit Visage, I'm partial to the Abyssal myself. Is he building some weird AD thing? Grab Zhonyas and just bully him. Q on CD to get the life steal, preferably off him, and keep your E at max stacks and you will watch the little rodent cower under his turret, or at least try as I tend to spend much of my laning phase getting fed by tower diving him as vlad.
Its pretty even match, although it can be noted that Vladimir cant just dodge Teemo's damage since majority of it is damage over time.

Generally speaking - you don't want to try poking Teemo as anyone in top-lane. You want to go ham on him until he's dead, and then teabag his corpse.
Teemo's all-in damage is incredibly bad. His QWER burst rotation is Blinding Dart and nothing else, and his AA poison is significantly weakened when successively striking the same target, seeing as that mostly just resets the duration, with a small amount of up-front damage. You pretty much have to let him place a mushroom under your feet and wait for it to detonate for that to go in his favor.
Inversely - Teemo's poke damage is very, very strong. He's got far beyond Kayle's AA steroid and manaless taboot if you let him trade 1 AA then back off, trade 1 AA then back off. He'll win doing that unless you simply out-range him to such an extent you can AA him and back off without even getting shot back, which most bottom-lane picks can pull off.
The general trick with Teemo is just staying far enough back he can't AA you - until he gets in a position where you can safely retaliate and unload everything. Then you retaliate and unload everything. Works out extra-well if you manage to be within range of Dart and not his AA's, so he pokes with Dart right before that - leaving it on CD when you jump, and allowing your auto-attacks to add some extra DPS.
That's how I beat him with Vayne and Fiora at any rate. Had to learn some tricks when those are my favorite champions :(
Basically you just need to give up some CS early to stay in exp range, just try to make sure you last hit all the melee creeps at least and any ranged ones that are safe and use your q on minions to heal, this is a good MU to start boots 4 in so you have a lot of pot sustain, save up for 1200 grab Spectres Cowl if they have an AP jungler or hextech if they dont, then tp back to lane and just keep farming and try to avoid trades til you are level 9 and have max rank q, then you can trade with teemo all day and kill him if he tries to fight.
You have to be careful early on before you got revolver but after that you should of had the advantage.
Teemo counters bad players. It doesn't usually matter who those other players are using. If someone doesn't ward, Teemo will punish them for it. If someone is overly agressive, Teemo will punish them for it. If someone is overly timid, Teemo will punish them for it. If someone is out of position, Teemo will punish them for it.
On the other hand, if someone knows what they're doing, they tend to crush Teemo.
I had the same issue during a free week
the issue is teemo's range compared to vladimir and teemo has sustained damage
I thought vlad was a counter to teemo but damage over time counters vlad for most of the game
