I think it's clear, when comparing all of the buffs you can get from Smiting large monsters, that the buff from wolves is the weakest. The area of vision is too small. It should be made larger and/or the sentinel should patrol that part of the jungle.
As it is, the only time I get the Smite buff from wolves is when I have Trailblazer and I just want to mow the camp down. In other words, I get it unintentionally.
Make the wolf smite buff make a wisp on both sides of your jungle instead of just the Blue Buff side. Then it would be nice and handy for stopping invaders.
Take the Vision out, just give raw 20 M. Spd for 10 seconds, everyone is getting their boots late cause they need to rush for their Machete upgrade. Raw Mov spd will be perfect for clearing early and ganking on mid game.
Uh I disagree heavily, that smite buff the wolf gives is great utility for having a "free" ward in your jungle. When you know there is an active counter jungler or the enemy team is in your blue side jungle quite often, or even if you've temporarily lose control on that side of the map. It's a ward that will catch out any enemy champ in a decent vicinity.
Actually, it is somewhat like Kalista's W, only that whenever the enemy jungler comes into your camp even when it's not in sight range, it still goes to the enemy and detects him for you for the whole day. I dunno, the wolf buffs is only effective when you're up against an annoying counter-jungler like Shaco.
I counter-jungle a bit, and that smite on the wolf keeps me really safe on that side of the map.
No. Just no. The wolves upgrade is absolutely fine. It's an effective heat-seeking counterjungle ward that lets you know when the anybody in in that whole half of the enemy jungle. Learn to use it correctly.
The wolves one is excellent for if you are counterjungling, since it is essentially a free roaming ward. It is also great to defend against counterjungling, since it detects enemy invades for you. The only thing i would ask is make it roam more, and last longer.
Even if the buff starts patrolling the entire blue jungle with huge vision it will still not be worth getting over other buffs.
