@Riot How to stop Fizz from being a lot less annoying.

Fizz has one ability that annoys the hell out of us. His E: Playful/Trickster. An ability that makes him ungankable, nearly uncatchable, and lets him get out of almost any situation with its relatively low cooldown late game.

So, how do you fix it?

Punish the little fish f*ck guy for using his E to escape. Give it an original higher cooldown and cut it by half if his E hits an enemy unit. That way, you can at least say "hey, he used his E to run away, I can punish him for 16 seconds" rather than "there goes Fizz, might as well gank another lane because he's virtually uncatchable."

Also, it gives Fizz more of that all-in risk-reward complex most assassins need. Fizz has very little risk because he can spam the troll pole at the moment. Give him a higher cooldown for using it defensively and it will make him have to think more about pressing his golden button. This way, he gets rewarded for being ballsy enough to go in on that squishy, and using his E offensively rather than a "lel nope bye" mechanic. That's what makes Fizz so annoying, and if this change is implemented he could perhaps be balanced around a more healthy gameplay pattern.

Next in line: Ekko. Wait, no scratch that. I'm not going to even talk about "utility assassin" boy on this forum.

i agree but i dont like the cut his damage in half because he does level E first and his Q scaling and damage is bad but i feel (as a fizz player) that he is a bit unbalanced he has a good bit of kill pressure even at low levels thanks to thunder lords but you have to remember that even if they up the CD that he will build 40% cd which will put it back to being op the best thing to do is pick something like kayle or (if you good) zed because of his high poke and ability to switch to his shadow to dodge fizzes E and R. The big thing about fizz is not his E which is still bad but its his W because it does damage based on how much you are missing and you can Q and W at the same time which can one shot someone which i have done multiple times when fed. his popularity in ranked is not that high because there are champs that can kick his ass ryze gives fizzes a hard time because of the root or annie because of the stun but in blind pick its hard on the opponent.

I'm not proposing to cut Fizz's damage, just make the cooldown higher for if he uses his E defensively. In fact, this change could actually allow for the balance team to lower his mana costs or up his damage a bit to compensate if it hits him a bit hard.

However, Fizz is an assassin and I do agree that he has his hard match-ups. Everyone does (except Fiora). But you have to remember that I'm talking about him in general. Building CDR will still be a thing for Fizz, but it will be less effective. It's why Karthus doesn't prioritize CDR: his ultimate has such a high cooldown CDR makes not enough of a difference to warrant getting it. While Fizz will still be buying CDR, he will have to think twice about idly pressing E to get to his lane faster or use it to block something as minor as an auto attack. He already has the tools to get away in lane without his E, including immunity to unit collision.

Also, by no means do I think Fizz is OP or broken. He is fairly balanced, but just annoying and unhealthy in terms of his kit. Fizz should be slippery, I agree, but he should have some restrictions on how he uses such a powerful ability. You don't see Hecarim idly using his E for the hell of it (unless it's URF) because he'll have to suffer having it on cooldown and having wasted mana. Fizz doesn't really worry about either once he buys items, which is why he needs some way to have meaningful decision-making behind his strongest skill.

if the mana was bigger and the cd a bit longer i think that would put him in a good spot because hes an assassin so he needs to be a late game monster with tons of damage but his early game needs to be weaker because i just played fizz vs fiora and just stomped her in lane and she could not do anything about it. The big thing about his damage which a lot of people dont do is he uses W then Qs which procs his W on you that does a ton of damage but you can actually side step or use a dash of some kind to dodge his Q which hurts him a good bit because at that point he has to either go all in with his E and just auto you while you still have your abilities up or E away which leaves him a bit hurt for mana and has to play passive for a bit. His overall kill pressure gets weaker as time goes on because if the enemy is fed he can get killed really quickly im not trying to say he needs a buff or anything i feel he does need a bit of tweaking to him to make him a bit more fair but i dont thinks hes op by any means.

I don't want to make his laning phase absolute hell, though. I'm just trying to make his E punishable.
