[GAMEPLAY] The New HUD
I like some of the changes on the new HUD. But i just really, really hate the coloring on several small areas. ESPECIALLY the minimap. That minimap has never felt like it wanted to be ignored, now i can't just look at the map for a fraction of a second to a full second, tops, but now i got to look at it for a full second minimum to 2 seconds to perceive enemy locations and especially ally locations. It is too blue (very metallic blue or dark green-ish), and it is dull. I wish the enemies were Orange and bright to more easily stand out, and allies were Cyan. Right now as things are the minimap makes me confuse allied portraits with turrets symbols sometimes (this has never happened to me before, so i think it really is the HUD).
The bottom portion of the new HUD also sucks. Having abilities show a rain-drop like symbol is annoying. Everything looks TOO Blue, so i still end up ignoring it. If the ability turns a different color instead of Blue it would be better. Also, the cooldown timers are more tedious too since they barely stand out, everything, like i stated before, looks too blue.
However, i like the timers until how much time is left for enemies and allies have left for them to respawn. And i like the other timer that countdowns to when their ults are back up.
BUT, i do hate how i cannot find the health bars on allies. Makes using teleport more annoying, because of the poor coloring and on top of that the lack of allies' hp bars has me not teleporting into a fight on time as much as i would like.
And i do like how the new menu that pops up when you hit tab. I'm really liking that. But still needs a few minor tweaks. Overall, i still like the new tab menu.
It makes me wonder who was part of PBE or what was going on within Riot, since clearly one of two things happened. People did not take the new HUD serious and did not provide good feedback or info, or Riot ignored the info provided by those who were part of PBE.
There are some very basic art things, design, and psychological things that were clearly not done. The hyper-minimalist approach has done more harm than good. It is too Blue, that nothing stands out. The old HUD had colors that complimented each other, some were literally on the opposite side of the color wheel which is great, others were dull next to bright colors that made things stand out better even when they were literally the same color or similar.
The new minimap is perfect to have it blend into the background or get ignored by your eye's blind spot. Additionally, there are too few colors that stand out, most are similar and dull. Furthermore, there are bits of info missing like allied levels or their HP bars on their character portraits or next to them. One would think that if they work constantly with colors they would arrive to the conclusion that things look too dull or certain objects on map do not stand out.
