PSA: Dont Play League of Legends as if it were Call of Duty.

GenghisEmo··99 votes·4,546 views

It isnt about kills.

It is about objectives.

Think strategy.

Not running around for kills.

In Normal, go ahead, but in RANKED DONT CHASE or get greedy.

There is a difference between greed or stupidity, and initiative.

Initiative, you see an opponent get caught out, you pounce on him/her.

Greed, you go in 1v1, get baited and turns into a 1v2 or 1v3, then you get shutdown.

Initiative, you see inhib down, you go other lanes or get drag.

Greed, you rush that lane w/ no inhib, waste time or waste baron buff.

So please, think of the bigger picture. Not about your KDA.

but if everyone played like this... where do the bronze people go?

GenghisEmo4 votes

Silver? Since Silver isnt that great either. They are horribly inconsistent. Do some of the same bronze plays too.

While those with strategic depth can climb higher without as much of a burden or without worrying as much of horribly awful allies that turn a free win into a loss.

Bronze would be everyone in Bronze 5 now. everyone else would move up to silver, MAYBE gold. The ranks would be very more spaced out. instead of 90% in bronze it'd be like 30% B / 20% S / 20% G / 20% P / and 10% D+

This is actually correct. silver is usually around the top 80% with bronze in the 90%

Ego Sum Redemit7 votes

Not even close. Its actually ~40% Bronze, ~35% Silver, ~15% Gold, and the rest of the 10% are sprinkled upwards.

90% isn't even remotely logical anyways.

that was actually pretty close.

currently we have

actually all the numbers are like that haha i cant believe its this hard to dispute, just go on op.gg and you will see that G5 players are the top 20% leaving silver - to be the rest of the community. Its not hard

Bronze contains about 40% of players. silver has about 25%. Gold has about 15%. Plat has about 12%. Diamond is about 7%. Challenger is about 1%. At least this is what I believe the spread is like.

thats not how it works. if everyone stopped doing this everyone would stay right where they are. its how the LP system functions. someone must win, and someone must lose in order for you to climb more people must lose. in that sense no one moves because everyone simultaneously increases their skill level by the same amount.

the only difference would be an increase in quality of games at the lower ranks, much like korea.

TeCoolMage2 votes

People don't increase their skills linearly, some people suck because they don't understand objectives and shot calling, some people are as slow as a rock and can't aim point and click abilities.

A bronze 5 mid who can last hit every single minion in lane then farm the jungle in between waves will then be able to beat a platinum 5 who plays jungle due to being good for all the opposite reason

Robbit Mang1 votes

if youre bronze 5 and you can last hit more than 1 minion per wave you obviously aint bronze 5. people in low plat usually get ~70-80 cs per 10 mins, people in gold 3+ 60-70, people gold 4 and below usually 30-60 cs per 10, which is 30-60% of the minions that come into the lane, or barely 3 minions per wave.

TeCoolMage1 votes

Simply because most bronze players are bad at CSing doesn't mean they are always bad at CSing. If a bronze 5 can farm 100% of the lane, but never back even at 20 health, don't leave lane, don't harass, and can't tell if the tower is shooting at them, then they're obviously not going up a rank.

Robbit Mang1 votes

oh they definitely will. Bronze players get ~60 gold per wave whereas someone who cses perfectly gets the full gold value and can dominate with sheer items and stats. a player with decent mechanics cant outplay someone a full item up!

trust me, ive been there lol. i can say with 100% confidence that bronze players do not understand the importance of farming and ALWAYS fall behind in farm. I am yet to see a bronze player who can even come close to competing with the cs of a gold 3+ or plat player

TeCoolMage1 votes

This isn't a real example where there's an actual player who does this. I'm talking about a theoretical but completely possible (though extremely unlikely) player who 100% CSes but goes 0/0/1 with 400 CS and buys 6 rabadons on Riven due to not understanding how the game works.

Stop saying that all bronze players suck at everything with nothing but anecdotal evidence to try and disprove a theoretical situation that was initially made to explain my point (and it's not even the main subject of discussion). A majority of them are simply good at one thing and can't do anything else.

Robbit Mang1 votes

I'm not trying to say bronze players are stupid or something like that, they're in bronze because they're trying to learn more advanced mechanics than the bare minimum.

Like, bronze is like elementary school or something. Little kids aren't stupid because they haven't learned anything yet, but if they keep practicing they'll get better and eventually climb on out of bronze. My point was that even silver and low gold players can't even farm, it's a very advanced skill (even though it sounds SO easy in theory) so that would be a pretttty far fetched theoretical scenario, maybe like saying there's a bronze player who can mechanically perfectly play lee sin better than someone in skt.

TeCoolMage1 votes

If an elementary school child knew how to run a nuclear power plant but couldn't manage money, weren't emotionally developed enough to resist making an intentional literal meltdown upon being antagonized, and didn't know what to do when a stranger asks for a sample of uranium without any license, then that child still belongs in an elementary school. If all elementary children suddenly gained the ability to do math and english at a university level, then they'd beat the primary school children who are good at those subjects, but fail to compete with students in other subjects like music or history. These examples are blowing things out of proportion, but it's to make clear what would happen in a less exaggerated situation.

Also, farming is the easiest skill in LoL, past basic controls. It's easier than warding, harassing, and even pushing without CS in mind (shoving requires mana management to be able to do anything afterwards.)

GenghisEmo2 votes

Well the issue with Bronze is that it pretty much puts every one iin there. There are those who are worse than me, but slightly higher, and those better than me, but unable to get out. So it is a cluster fuck of chaos and confusion.

Silver is kind of the same, but a bit worse though with slightly better mechanically skilled players.

So basically it call comes down to having vision because without vision you can't tell a good choice from a bad one. Yup!

Knoyle3 votes

Literally had a game where we were getting stomped hard, but we won anyway. Why? Because the enemy team made now actual advances on objectives like towers. Hell the jungler went straight back to farming almost every time. In the end we hit a powerspike big enough that we caught the jungler out and then the top laner and we just killed the rest on a rampage to the nexus.

Quepha3 votes

Ironically, Call of Duty favors objectives more than kills relative to League of Legends.

In Call of Duty, the objectives are the win conditions, in League of Legends most of them are only means towards win conditions In Call of Duty, you pursue kills to reduce the enemy team's numbers and give your team a power play at objectives, in League of Legends you pursue kills for the same reasons IN ADDITION TO kill gold for your team to make your champions stronger.

Only Play Darius5 votes

Call of duty's most played game modes are death match with no objectives. Meanwhile League has absolutely no death match modes

Anidan2 votes

That's not really a fair comparison of the high-end of the game. You can't use Ranked League and compare it to TDM or FFA because that's intentionally taking something popular on one game and comparing it to the competitive part of another game. That's like comparing a Street Fighter tourney to For Glory mode on Smash 4 - it's popular and has a semi-competitive feel, but popularity does not beget the actual competitive aspect.

It'd probably be a lot more fair to use the actual competitive aspects of a game to compare it to the actual competitive aspects of another game. Something like Hardpoint, Domination, Capture the Flag, etc., as compared to TDM/FFA in CoD, or Normals or ARAM in League.

Domination is the shit, yo.

People will never learn this.

In this season I've lost 4 ranked with enemy nexus almost down (1-2-3-4 hits to win) because people prefer to get kills then they die, ACE, come back, lost. Gg wp.

ARequestOfDeath2 votes

but it feels so rewarding to get a kill

GenghisEmo1 votes

And even more rewarding to win by destroying the enemy's hope.

Having them surrender since their towers are falling, dragons can't be contested, unable to make an adequate pick.

Kills, aren't that rewarding, now more than in quite a while, Kills are pretty much given for free. Riot makes everything delete you or deal a lot of dmg. So making the enemy give up hope is more rewarding.

LaserDeathBlade1 votes

That's why I always play my lane like the stead-fast chess pawn: Always forwards, never backwards

I A-Move down lane, take my hands off the keyboard, and let Jesus take the wheel

I don't care who comes to gank. 1v1, 1v,2, 1v5, doesn't make a difference

If I live, then I've won the game a hero

If I die, it was worth: I will be born again

THANK YOU!

The truth has been spoken, and it has never sounded so heavenly.

This is why I can't wait to get to Level 30 to play ranked; I'm more of an objective player than a kill player. I get somewhat annoyed when I'm taking a tower and then I see the whole enemy team attacking my top laner deep in their jungle. I'm hoping that there's a greater focus on objectives than kills in ranked games. :)

GenghisEmo2 votes

NOPE... if you land in Silver and Bronze.

And to some extent Gold (especially that Gold V, IV, and III).

Sad that people dont get it.

There are players who can play well mechanically, or as good as others, and are Ranked higher due to their shot calling, tactical depth, knowledge, etc.

But in low elo, it really doesnt matter. And in low elo there is no way for the game to notice or reward you for playing smart since usually no one else is playing smart.

Spacesuit Spiff1 votes

This just comes with experience. After lots of games you know when you can fight/when you cant get anything out of it. Recognizing free objectives helps too.

GenghisEmo1 votes

Yes. But Bronze dont get it. There are ppl flaming me for "letting allies die" when it is more about "back off from mid, get free drag and or push bot a bit".

Simple tactic with high reward and little risk. But ppl are too dumb.

They think blindly going 1v3 while over extending and not bothering with looking at allied positioning as taking "initiative" when in reality it is the opposite.

Spacesuit Spiff2 votes

Pretty much. One of the first things to learn is when NOT to fight.

Blue Moon Wolf1 votes

Play like your support. Help your teammates when possible, share the gold, share the kills, ward everything.

GenghisEmo2 votes

Yep. I know when im ahead in Mid, i give kills. When ahead top i give kills. When im jg, i give kills.

This way, others can scale as well.

Now, no one wants to think of it as a team. No one wants strategy.

This meta has done one thing well: Make everyone else selfish, and not think tactically.

Stand Alone Wolf1 votes

Enemy Player: "You suck. 1v1 me kid."

Me: "Oh? I had no idea this was Summoners-Rust. Will there be a kill-cam for my 360 Skill-shot?"

GenghisEmo2 votes

Cracked me up XD.

I like when enemies chase all the way through the allied jungle to kill off an ally that is faster than them, while i literally destroy two towers, pick off one of theirs who was trying to defend, and then steal their blue, while getting back into the game by cs the entire lanes all to my self (when i was down 12 cs before the greedy chase even started).

I hate it when my allies do the same thing to the enemy, allowing the enemy to get back into the game when they split push XD.
