Can Anyone 1v2 Bottom Lane Effectively?

Elite4Runner··1 votes·999 views

That is really the question.

Can anyone be effective by themselves during the laning phase against an ADC and Support?

What kind of adjustments would need to be made to their playstyle and/or build?

Could it be done with some extra focus from the jungle, or TPs from other lanes?

Don't focus so much on the question of "why would you be 1v2? Where is your ADC/Support?"

Just humor me, please.

a lot of champions can.

1

but you have to understand "effective" in this context does not mean "get all the farm, kill the duo and push their tower". It means farming to 50% and hugging the tower for 10 minutes without losing it.

2

because the advantage is gotten elsewhere on the map. the "effective" part is you holding on for dear life while someone else gets to carry the game.

yes occupying 2 players with just 1 is effective IF your spare player gets stuff done elsewhere on map.

3

which is where the jungler should be focusing. Although the jungler does need to come and hold the lane for them 1-2 times so that they can shop and heal in base.

4

what is important is waveclear, sustain, and enduring the harassment. this is where the build has to go.

If they are not very smart they won't freeze super hard and maybe you can use something that has a good ranged cs'ing tool like Karthus' Q. And his passive serves as a minor dissuasion of sloppy dives. I recall Karthus was a couple times used way back in the lcs days of season 2 or sumthing to go bot when some teams like dignitos sometimes played with their duo lane mid. I've actually done this when a Twitch/Alistar lane tried to bush cheese me top lane at the start of the game and the Twitch was sneaky's frequent solo queue lane partner catears or something (supposedly smoothie)

The problem is no champion can 1v2 if they lane properly and then they come to 3v1 you. Tanky or ranged or both.

The character traits imo is range and mobility. Then get a certain amount of tank stats from gear and runes.

If they push any bit at all it'll start pushing your way and you can try to use your range to snatch as much cs as possible.

You can't 1v2 without help because the enemy can call its junlger for a dive, and 1v3 is almost a guaranteed kill if the enemies know what they're doing.

Before the dragon update, in coordinated games, 1v2 lanes existed when the bot lane switched with top lane to let their scaling adc's farm (like vayne) or before the tower update, teams wanted to take down towers fast for money ("we can take down your top tower before you take down our bot tower" or "let's each trade a tower and avail everyone to more early gold" meta).

For the "scale the weaker adc" meta, the jungler would exclusively help out the solo lane hold off the tower.

For the early tower meta, junglers would go to where the support and adc are, and take the tower quickly because that was more efficient. The solo laner would have to only get experience from afar (champions like kennen farming with shuriken and maokai farming with sapplings). The solo lane champions then switch lanes and start farming in the lane without t1 tower).

TLDR: no you can't.

As a Zyra Main, I have successfully defended the bot tower 1v4. However, most of those I would also call "ill advised" gank attempts, even if they got ahold of my carry. Zyra wants you to "come closer", and for good reason. She can erase you if she's been in one place long enough, like few others can. Even with Spellthiefs and a Sightstone, once she hits 6, encroaching upon her is very dangerous.

In the current meta, she has become my safety net because of this. I am also a Support Main, and I would like to play other champions, but it's hard to justify right now as long as the entire team is focusing on my lane by default.
