What Champs are lacking in Counter Play?

I genuinely would like to know from a variety of viewpoints how should Counter Play be implemented into the game and its champions what should counter play entail, and how effectively or not effectively it is being implemented now.

I think that counter play is an important part of the design of a game especially one like League For me I define it as a disadvantage inherent to ones design that isn't easily surpassed that another can take advantage of. Or it is weakness that another can exploit

Now thats is my general definition but it could get much more specific/specialized for league and I am sure that many of you have your own definitions as well

But whats key is why is it important

Counterplay allows someone a way to get over an obstacle if they make use of the weaknesses or disadvantage of the obstacle correctly, or well enough or often enough. Counter play can allow someone to take what would have been possibly an impossible challenge to have a chance to surpass it

counterplay can also exist in optimal and suboptimal ways (avoiding combat at all times, item? avoiding a constant area of threat, a kit that works against itself)

My curiosity is geared more towards what are good examples and bad examples of counter play for champions within league

Most Assassin's.

Healthiest Assassin's in terms of counter play in my opinion are Katarina Ahri Ekko

Leblanc is the queen of no counter play. Oh you bought item 3156 / item 3102? Still going to die without being able to react.

Fizz KhazixAkali Shaco Talon Zed are overwhelming to play against. Even worse if they even get 1 kill..

Akali doesn't even need a kill, She just needs level 6.

Evelynn Rengar are countered by 75 gold. item 2055

Kaisa

Yasuo in mid lane. His counterplay is literally getting the stars to align when his health is in kill range, his passive is down, his third Q is down, his windwall is down, his bone plating is down, and you can win the stat check.

Also, any champ whose counterplay is entirely macro, which includes champs that force you to shut them down early or stall out their oppressive early games.

Fizz Yasuo Zed are extremely problematic due to their toxic kit Leblanc She is just bullshit to play against, it's funny how she was reworked for that reason but then she was reverted....

Well one issue with trying to highlight champions with a lot of counterplay or not is that some champions need totally different kinds of Counterplay than others. You can see this especially with the Slayers who have kits designed around beating people 1v1 through micromechanics but usually have god awful macromechanics. Master Yi is the perfect example of this, I did a post on him forever ago and many of the principles still ring true today. He sucks at defensive macroplay and if you burn his Highlander, he's dead in the water. But if you try to fight him and "outplay" him with a non-Slayer or otherwise duelist champion, he's going to destroy your butt no problemo, "no counterplay".

Imo, all champions have sufficient counterplay. Perhaps a better question is 'in what areas are champions lacking counterplay?', in which case all the Slayers need to line up for their lack of micromechanical outplay potential (against them).

Garen is a good example of counterplay. Hit him to prevent him from healing, run away if you see him Q, wait before CC'ing and nuking when he uses W etc. etc.

Camille is a bad example of counterplay. Want to trade with her? She gets free shields. Want to duel her? She gets true damage. Want to out sustain her? Her W deals % maximum health physical damage and heals her. Want to push her into her tower? Her W is AOE and she'll just build a Tiamat. Want to engage? She uses E to run away. Want to run away? She uses E to engage, her W to slow you and then her Q to speed her up. Want to escape? She locks you down with her ultimate and proceeds to deal % maximum health magic damage.

God fucking damnit I hate Camille
