Rakan needs help

Ever since health dropped off of Ancient Coin, Rakan hasn't had an overly viable support item. No extra HP on someone as squishy as he is until you finish Eye of the Watchers or another HP item on a champ who's supposed to be a harrass tank isn't exactly a good place to be, especially for so new of a champ. He can't proc Relic shield since his auto is considered ranged, so that hp is out the window. It's gotten so bad that I have occassionally seen Rakan start with Doran's Shield or Ring.

He's not supposed to be a harass tank. He's a disruptor. He is to utility what assassins are to damage. He goes in, disrupts the enemy team with his CC, and then dashes back out to his team before they can do anything.

If you're expected to last hit cannon minions with mages in midlane you can last hit the cannon minions with Rakan. Frankly I find it insulting that Relic Shield suggests support players are too incompetent to do what other players can without the help of an execute passive. If I'm last hitting cannon minions with Anivia or Swain a ranged support can certainly do it too.

Buy relic shield, show some competence and do what the other three laners are already supposed to do without any sort of help, get paid.

Alternatively, since Rakan has 3 different auto attack animations based on his range and his low range auto is literally a melee attack with his mirror, have Riot change him so that he's ranged but his autos are conditionally considered melee if he's close enough to the enemy. The visual feedback for doing so successfully already exists.

It's not about your last hitting ability. You're not always going to be paired with somebody that will wait patiently for your last hit stacks. The execute damage is in place for that reason, to give the champions who would normally buy it more agency with getting their stacks

You're telling me relic shield's execute mechanic exists because ADCs are impatient and self players who sabotage their own self interest, that is if they're not doing so because of their own lack of game knowledge?

YES, IT DOES. Do you have any idea how selfishly low elo players play? Do you know with how little regard supports are treated at that level? It would be so much harder for lower elo supports or supports that aren't in comms with their adc to get those relic stacks if not for that execute damage. It's not hard to see why it's necessary to have if you stop to think about it for 2 seconds

Don't worry man I wasn't being sarcastic, I do agree with you.

I mostly play top lane, but support is my secondary and I primarily play melee supports. I'll have ADCs flame me and then run it down mid because "DONT TAKE MY CS" after I used my spoils of war charge to execute the cannon.
