Support starting items

I understand the changes to the support starting items {AKA gold gen items) were to stop other people in other roles from using them, but you also made it a lot harder for some supports to use them effectively as well. How? Now you can't start with a support item and a refillable potion. Some supports early on want the mana from
more than the heal, and you took that away.
This is mostly important on occasion for supports like AP tanks that build health primarily. Start with
and first back get
so you can regen some mana.
doesn't give you any health until you finish it to tier 3
(although you do get health regen at tier 2), and it's the same with
. For a support tank to lane against ANY caster support they need to use their abilities more often, and this means a lot of mana needs. Clarity is gone, mana potions are gone, and now you can't even start with a refillable potion to get to the Corrupting.
And before anyone says it, yes, I know you can build 'off-path' and get something like
first back instead, but that tends to get you called a troll or whatever for 'not building support'.
Things like this are why tanks are having a hard time currently - excessive damage from enemies and limited resources to respond on a slow tank versus a mobile assassin means you're going to die. A lot.
Why is it whenever changes get made they're 'tunnel vision changes' - you change something because X is broken, but it also negatively impacts Q indirectly but you don't notice? Because Pro play sees a lot of Tahm he needs what is effectively a nerf unless he gets more aggressive than a support should be? Are you actively trying to push tank supports out?
for example, which is as statchecky as it can get
