Augments v. Masteries

Anyone else enjoying playing with the augments in Odyssey more than the new masteries? Currently loving hexmine healer Ziggs - 6 bounce Q, leaves a mine each bounce, hexmines heal. Turns out Ziggs is a better healer in Odyssey than Sona.

what makes the augments so fun is that they don't have to be balanced for pvp because allot of the augments would be ridiculously broken for pvp, that's the fun part of making PVE content, they can make broken shit and still have it be fun because the only one who suffers from it is the AI

Because they're made specifically for the champ. Aside from being broken ass hell ofc.

It's like if we had a mastery that gave you extra DoT on every spell hit and taking it on Singed .....oh wait...item 3070

The augment effects are interesting, but enhanced abilities for every single champ in competitive would be a huge clusterfuck and hard to balance (e.g. Tempest).

Of course they are more fun than masteries... They are broken and only for specific champions. Augments could never be put in to actual league of legends pvp because it would be a balancing nightmare.

If they would do augments for every champion instead of masteries it would bring back their game to live again.

Kinda makes me wish they had more champs in this mode really. Imagine the augments that the other supports/mages will get?

i only wish the augment that makes mines magnet towards enemies would make it magnet towards allies when you have hexhealing equipped.

you wouldnt be as reliable on your teammates understanding that the mines heal them, and pick them up.

by the way, im not sure if ziggs is better than sona as a healer. she has quite some powerful healing augments aswell.

Augments are fun unlike masteries... er 'runes' lol.

I think RIOT can learn something from the augment system they are using in Odyssey. The only caution I would offer is that players are probably still in the honeymoon period of Odyssey... which means RIOT should give players a bit more time in case their opinion shifts radically.

What I like is the decision format. I get to choose from all the available augments (the ones I've unlocked) and I don't have to worry about weird dependencies that force me into choices I don't want. Huh... sort of like a certain other system this game used to have...

As for everyone suggesting that Augments can't be balanced for gameplay...

Some of the augments are fun to use defenetly.

Amusingly too one of Yasuos augments (Can only crit on the tip of his blade) sounded so much better for the PvP yasuo then his current one...
