Lots of hate for hexflash

I don't know why people hate hexflash so much, lots of people just call it garbage and don't give it a second glance. Annie players like myself love it. It's hard to use it as an escape unless you channel it preemptively, but to engage over walls and challenge objectives, and even catch your lane opponent off guard, it can be glorious. It is a very niche ability.

I figured hey, maybe I could try to make a list of champions that could make good use of it here.

Annie obviously

Kennen is the next obvious one, as well as any other champion that primarily uses flash to engage.

Amumu potentially, that would be pretty hilarious to see, Amumu just appears under tower and ults you lol

It could put champs like Braum or Leona in position for a good unexpected ult, but that's a bit of a stretch

Morgana? Sure! Just make sure you at least have a stopwatch first.

I saw a smart Gragas using it. His ganks were pretty intense.

I could also imagine it being used for some crazy initiations with Jarvan, Malphite, Maokai, Vi, and WU KONG.

Potential funny picks with it, that I wouldn't take too seriously, could be Singed, Swain, Volibear, and... This is a scary thought... Katarina.

It's all about how creatively you use it, but I like the versatility it can bring and the way it can allow for more sick flash initiates than before. If you don't like it... you probably aren't using it on the right champions?

Edit: Someone in comments mentioned Alistar and I really don't know how I didn't think of that one before

As an Annie player, no. Hexflash is still garbage. It's way way way too telegraphed. You ain't gonna be catching anyone off guard when you stand still for 2.5 seconds in lane. Your likely just gonna die. Unless your sitting in an unwarded bush you won't be able to make use of it. But in that cast you just let them step 1 step farther and kill them.

Maybe you neglected to read the part about how they use it. Nobody is gonna sit there in lane charging flash up, and it isn't hard to clear wards. You talk as if you're the final authority on annie gameplay. Doesn't matter what you think about it, you aren't using it. Let people enjoy what they want. This isn't worlds.

Doesn't change the fact that outside of extremely rare situations it would even be helpful. It is garbage. The worst part about it is that flash has to be on cool down for it to work. If it was 1.5 seconds maybe it would be good? But atm it's little better then cheese. It may work once in a blue moon. But the vast majority of the time it simply won't.

Thanks for your opinions.

Even if those are opinions, you're just being stubborn for not proving its use out of specific situations.

Final Spark Lux1 votes

Im not being stubborn. The potential uses for this are obvious, and have already mostly been listed. I'm not going to waste my time trying to argue with someone who is adamant about their thoughts.

Of course this is going to have specific uses. Everything has a specific use. That's like someone asking me to prove how electrocute is useful outside of damaging the enemy.

Being a 2nd tier rune and still allowing you to flash over walls while flash is on cooldown can be really powerful on certain champions. It may not be instant, but as long as you control enemy vision, it doesn't matter. I'm not going to say the possibilities are endless with this (because they do end), but there's quite a few uses for this if you're clever.

When you say you think the worst part about it is that it only works when flash is on cooldown, I think that is actually the BEST part about it. Not being able to flash at all for 300 seconds, vs. being able to potentially hexflash like, 10 or more times in that time span? It opens the door for plays that never would have been possible. Hell, you can just use it to mess with people and you can change the direction you are flashing in at the very last second. Mind games are fun too. At WORST it will give you a quicker way to travel through the jungle.

Ya. I am gonna try it out. Tbh I played one game on pbe with it and developed my option from that. It could make for some clutch steals. Personally I feel like it's more a matter of what your giving up for it compared to the niche use that it holds.

I agreed on you for the first part, then I realized you didn't understand the point of the OP. It's not about it being fun, it's about it being actually practical despite most people's first impression.

Final Spark Lux2 votes

Hmm, maybe I should have phrased out differently, but i can assure you I do believe it's practical, potentially to anyone with cc imo. I didn't mean to imply it wasn't practical, just saying regardless of its practicality, some people enjoy it, and others call it trash. So whoever enjoys using it should continue to do so, since it's clearly working out for them.

okay, it's only 2 seconds, not 2.5, and you get to use it every 20 seconds, or less if you have CDR, which is a very short cd. And you'd be surprised how many players won't expect it even if you stand there and channel it right in front of them. If they are tunneling looking at minions, or if their eyes wander somewhere else on the map, because they think they are standing a safe distance from you, you can easily catch them off guard by hexflashing past the minion line even just to get some easy poke down onto them or get their flash. I personally use it more for kicking off teamfights by flashing over walls to land a good tibbers on their unsuspecting backline.

I will give it a try (when I get around to trying out Annie with the new runes) I could be wrong. Worst case scenario I have to come back and post that I am at best wrong and at worst a dick. .

Full disclosure I think it's garbage but I will give it a solid 10-15 games before I pass any more judgment.

Also I don't claim to be any authority on Annie. She's not even my main. But I know I'm not the only one using it, I see it in a lot of guides.

It's called sarcasm. Kind of like how we yasuo players have to deal with the stigma of "all yasuo players are toxic" Even though I don't say or do anything toxic in game while playing him.

I play only aram and sometimes ill do "gimmicky" things to just have fun. lately ive been testing hexflash on all the champs I only play for aram. it can be great due to the two long bushes you get on the bridge. problem is, we all know you have it up and if they are in the bush, stay away from it. now without further ado, ill just share a few "tricks" with it...it may or may not be good....shrugs (the reason I even consider it is cause some of the non-assassin/adc champs I use run the glacial augment set up and its an option and curiosity... ive ran glacial augment on every champ by now. i have long time friends that reach up to 8-10 players in a night every week or so and we do custom aram games.

now i don't claim anything groundbreaking, just take the info and use your imagination...

  1. doesn't break stealth with eve.

  2. as soon as you press W on leblanc, IMMEDIATELY press and hold hexflash to charge... before you even reach your destination from W, its already charging. call it a headstart.

  3. leblanc again. instead of W, use E. if it connects, they cant tell if you are in the hexflash animation charge up...

  4. alistar is king. the fear of him sitting in bush chillin' like a villain is immense. allows ppl like nasus to freely get stacks...assuming you are coordinated like i am. i play with friends all the time, its standard to let him have cannon minions. well, everyone knows i don't farm minions in ARAM unless at least 3 teammates are dead.

  5. i like to use the half distance charge up to BM ppl. they know you charging it but they don't know the spot you headed to. plus worse case scenario, cancel that shit and move along lol

  6. kha zix....eh...while using an evolved E, you can charge during the jump animation. just like the leblanc W. during the spell's animation, you charge hexflash.

  7. as soon as xayah begins her ult animation, you should already be charging hexflash...

bed time even though its 8am...been up on adderalls testing so many things....enjoy....if i get notifications when i wake up that ppl interested in a discussion, ill continue to add more....and just in case, sorry i only play certain champs in aram...for instance, i have 250k points on alistar in aram alone.

I've thought about using it on Lux too, just so I can be all sneaky like (I play her support so I'm pretty good when it comes to ward clearing), I just haven't had the chance yet. I feel like as a support, I have to have damage (even if I'm not Lux because everyone is bursty right now and not having damage in these lanes is gimping yourself), but I feel the need to have zombie ward / ingenious hunter as well so I can have better vision control than the enemy. So far, that's consisted of sorc / dom or dom / sorc trees, so I haven't been able to play around with it.

I also think it would be good on fiddle. Not for his ult (since that isn't how things work) but for his fear, if you're trying to pick someone off and you flank them while your team walks up on them. Honestly, if someone has some form of CC, I think it could work on them. You just gotta be aware of enemy wards, and clear them when you can.

Eh. I have found it amazing, mainly on supports, Darius, and a few heavily engage based champions (namely Malphite). For example, as Rakan, you channel hexflash in a bush, and immediately R W combo the enemy adc. Works whenever you need to engage for aggressive adcs like Draven or Kalista or for jungle ganks/roams.

Catastrop1 votes

To add to your list of champions who can make use it, Lissandra can channel it while her claw is in motion. That way you can E>Flash on demand every 20 seconds.

That's very interesting, I'm not sure I understand how that works though. Can you cast your E the second time while still channeling the flash? I didn't think it would work like that

On Rengar, you can use it to extend the range of your brush leap making it really good on him.

Works good on Alistar and Rengar (you can use it from bushes and still have your jump)

I hadn't even thought of alistar! That's a really good one, should have had that on my original list. I could see him being a "top tier hexflash user" lol

Elkington VI1 votes

The only use I can find for it is for champions that can't normally go through terrain. That's something I guess.

MetalGearTeemo1 votes

Hexflash has its place on any character that wants to be able to jump walls make themselves harder to pin down when splitpushing, or when looking to set up flanks ( you don't need the full channel duration to get over many of them. )

Also has a place on any jungler who does not have mobility to gank from over walls. ( this could enable more tank junglers who may not seem like meta worthy currently. )

Seems fine, I've seen 2 games won off hexflash use. A Garen who went over a wall to Q-Ult a carry who was retreating from a teamfight engage, and a Blitzcrank who hexflashed over a wall and madlife'd the fed ez shift and caught him right outside his base which was turned into a throne.

niche runes are required if you want runes to be about versatility.
