Who has the highest lvl 18 base AD?

Top contenders so far is Mordekaiser, at 146 beating Darius, 141, by 5.

I'd love to know who has the highest base AD in the game, though it seems to be juggernauts rather than carries, however carry's attack speed usually scales higher (besides Garen, he has 134 base and 47 or so % attackspeed).

Darius also has huge scaling life - 2200 at lvl 18.

I see. Why do juggernaut's have the highest base AD?

Juggernauts were designed to be champs that go really tanky but still have high enough base stats to do good damage when they can actually reach their target. So they buffed the base damage of these guys so they could do more damage even as being super tanky. They don't have gap closers so it's harder to get into attack range with them (supposedly) and they wanted their damage to be high when they actually could manage to attack their target.

... realllllly... (Garen Q, Darius E).

Dead Man's takes away all those problems. Makes them tankier, do more damage, and is a gapcloser.

In other words, you can't win a teamfight against a juggernaut. Only way is to kite them.

Those aren't gap closers, I'm talking about things that move your champion even if they stand still (Vi's Q/Kassadin's ult/Tristana jump/etc.). That's why I said "supposedly" because you're right, there is plenty of ways for them to get to their target which is why they are so strong right now. You can win team fights against them, they have a harder time dealing with more than one champ so killing off the carries then having your team fight the juggernauts should deal with them.

Darius Q is made for teamfights. The triple heal is much stronger against multiple enemies. Also, he does really good damage with his 5 second Q which deals 300 damage without any items, which also scales on total AD. And that's also without CdR.

Garen is actually kinda weak in teamfights, only doing 80.25 damage per spin without damage items. But that adds up to 802.5 damage if you stay in it, and this is considering multiple enemies. However, it takes quite a while to pull off.

Mordekaiser is probably not that weak, considering he has a 5 second E, which does 242.6 damage. And that's actually a lot weaker than a Darius spin. And remember, this is all base stats.

Then add in Titanic Hydra. Not even including the bonus 50 AD, each of these juggernauts, well, besides Morde, has over 2000 base life. So that's 25 bonus damage on hit, (for a grand total of 75 AD) and 90 damage in a cone each auto attack. And if we include the 400 bonus life, that's 29 bonus damage on hit, and 94 damage in a cone. Not exactly too weak, is it?

With that one AD item, the juggernauts already have 200 AD. ...

I see. Why do juggernaut's have the highest base AD?

Because Sterak's was made for juggernauts?

because theyre encouraged to build tanky and items like item 3053 which scales off base ad.

it makes it easier to separate fighter and carry itemization. especially when it comes to sheen procs with items like item 3078 it makes them more effective on fighters. thats the reason why fighters and tanks always had the highest base ad.

balancing fighter itemization around base ad is actually a really good idea, since it allows to introduce ad/defensive items into the game that dont get overpowered on ranged carries. you can individually tune how effective items are on certain champions by making them scale off base ad. if an item is too strong or too weak on a champion, they could reduce or increase his base ad without having to touch the item for other champions.

its a similar reason why a lot of fighters have abilities scaling off total ad, and ranged adc and melee adc scale with bonus ad. it encourages different item builds.

They said no gap closers...then make them as fast as a ulting master yi. The idiocy with riot was strong with that patch.
