The Morgana Solution: It's all about her passive

I was thinking about this a while now. How can we rework morgana while she still has acces to the exact same kit so whe are able to buff her midlane without having to worry about her support. Than I came with this idea. I hope you like it:

New Passive: Consolidation Each of Morgana's abilities gain an extra effect:

  • Dark Binding: The root duration increase with 1 second whenever she stays in 1100 range of her target.
  • Tormented Soil: Morgana gains attackspeed when she stands on the soil.
  • Black Shield: Whenever Morgana cast the shield on herself it will also prevent disables for the duration of the shield.
  • Soul Shackles: The range while casting extends if her target is low on health.

With this change Dark Binding root duration will be decreased with 1 seconds so you still get 3 seconds root in combined with the passive. This change will make the ability less anyoing in a disengage situation while still providing the exact same power in a offensive situation.

Tormented Soil remains unchanged beside the passive. This will help morgana a lot in dueling situations and increase her damage output when she succesfully roots her target.

Black Shield changes will hit her support role really hard since she will no longer be able to grant cc immunity to her allies. To compensate the scaling of her shield could be buffed again so she becomes back more effective in the midlane. I don't think a lot of you will like this change but I think it's needed to ballance her out. I think cc immunity to allies is a great tool for a support. But on design perspective I think riot need to design this into into a new support with more counterplay and interaction in the kit. With this change I believe whe will still see Morgana supports, don't forget she still her cc immunity when casting it on herself. She will still be a ballanced to higher tier support if you ask me.

The Soul Shackles buff is their to buff her midlane. I just think it's a buff she really needs to be able to finish off her target.

End Well that's the concept of the rework idea so far. I currently listed the changes into her passive but all these changes can easy be implemented into her own abilities. I really curious about your opinion about it. Discuss ;)

Her passive is on reason to put morgana into a solo lane as it gives her sustain while she is pushing with Tormented Soil (W)

And giving morgana attack speed is really weird as Morgana doesn't have much interaction with her auto attacks and they don't really deal that much damage... And you would usually hit the snare and drop the pool and stay out of their range so they can't return the damage

I don't see anything here that would make Morgana more viable mid... though it would clearly nerf support Morgana

So pretty much the only thing that is changing is possible some more shield and attack speed.. the shield amount will probably not be big enough to matter because mid you will more or less always max it last... and Morgana is already rather hard to push out of lane with her pushing with pool and sustaining with RoA and her passive At the cost of utility of being able to block CC on allies and possibly her spell vamp This does nothing to make her more viable mid

Why would you put a support into a solo lane though?

Morg is a mage first, support second. The only reason you don't see her mid as often as bot is simply because mage mid simply isn't meta.

If you mean that mid is dominated by assassins, I find she does well against those without a way to negate her ultimate in their kit (mainly Zed and to a lesser degree Fizz are problems).

This includes AD assassins.

There are a number of mages that can do well against assassins, it's a matter of proper positioning and proper use of CC to ensure favorable trades. The problem is people seem to think mobility negates utility.

Wut.

Not being able to give CC immunity is the same as deleting her, because that is the one thing that actually makes her not just another generic mage champion. If she is being picked for the shield's CC immunity then she is being picked for the right reason.

Attack speed is not really that strong since she has the second shortest AA range of any ranged champion (only 25 higher than Urgot) and she has very low base AD.

The way to make her more viable mid (other than making the champions she is best against the only good picks for mid other than her) is to re-balance her damage vs CC time so that she does not become useless as a damage dealer against champions that have Merc Treads. In order to kill someone without help late game that has any kind of defense she currently needs to have them stand on her Tormented Soil for most of its duration. This will be more important next season since it seems people will have easier access to Tenacity (http://leagueoflegends.wikia.com/wiki/Elixir_of_Iron, tenacity is also to return to the tank jungle item).

At 600 AP Tormented Soil does 106 to 159 damage a tick, one tick ever half second. The reduction in CC duration from Merc Treads is from 4.5 seconds of to 2.925 seconds. This reduces her potential damage by 424 to 636 presuming she would have got all ten ticks from Tormented Soil at full CC time and only six ticks with the reduced duration. That is not even counting the MR it gives.

My detailed thoughts on fixing her: http://boards.na.leagueoflegends.com/en/c/gameplay-balance/mLmins2Q-some-ideas-on-morgana

TL;DR

She is not viable mid because she falls off once enemies purchase a single item that only cost 1200 gold that does not require giving up anything truly critical to their build. Most mages do not fall off until people start getting Banshee Veil.

God I hate people like you that don't read the topic properly. Morgana still gain cc immunity by cast it on herself!!!!

Not the same as being able to confer it onto other champions. Why would she ever be picked for any position if all she offers to a team composition is AoE damage, cc, and a shield that only works against magic damage when there are many mages that offer the first two and a shield that works against any type of damage (and often have a secondary effect)?

By nerf, you mean buff.

Land 1 q, the enemy's dead cause the cc is INCREASED to eternity.

CoolKnightST1 votes

Dude what are you talking about... The max duration of the Q will be 3 seconds just like the old Morgana. However when you disengage out this range the duration it's only 2 seconds.

OP just said the maximum duration will be nerfed to 2 seconds without using the passive.

Wow, I didn't think anyone could come up with such a hard nerf. GG.
