Tried playing Mordekaiser yesterday

Big mistake.

I tried playing around with different builds, but nothing quite seems to make this champion work. He has several limitations, and the health regen nerfs didn't seem to help.

For one thing, his main farming and harass ability in lane, E, did not get its health cost lowered for some inexplicable reason. Coupled with his health regen nerfs, this makes his early laning nigh impossible-- either you lose every trade by harassing the opponent with your E, or you have to play passive and farm with autos and Q. Both of these situations suck, and its unfair that other mid laners (Zed Ahri Leblanc) hardly have to make this trade off.

The previous problem forces you into buying spell vamp early to keep yourself healthy in lane. Even so, I find that an early revolver is still insufficient to counteracting this effect. Other champions that rely on health as a resource (Vladimir Zac DrMundo ) have good sustain or HP regen to keep them afloat. Why does Mordekaiser not get the same advantage? Is it because of his passive shield? Because any Morde player can tell you that it's hardly sufficient to keeping you alive in case you get ganked or engaged upon.

If you somehow manage to avoid getting camped by the enemy jungler, completely zoned by your lane opponent, or having your lane frozen because Morde can't help but push the wave, then you have probably made it to mid game with a fair amount of CS (which is literally the only thing he's good at). At this point you reach an impasse: what the hell do you buy on this champion?

You used to be able to DFG and ult, perhaps taking an enemy carry out, but now you cant even do that because his ult gives him garbage stats and he has no combo now that DFG is gone. Morde has very few ranged attacks, so he has to go in close. To survive up close combat, you need to build tanky. If you go the tanky route, he does moderate damage while getting kited endlessly. He also can't stick to his opponents and lock them down for his team, like a good tank should be able to do. If you build full AP, you're a one trick pony that exists to ult the enemy ADC. The rest of the time you cross your fingers, praying that your team will manage to finish off said carry before your ult wears off. Oh, and did I mention that if you make one wrong step, you'll get caught and die instantly? Meanwhile Leblanc and Zed have 1403290285 ways to escape a sticky situation. It's ridiculous.

My question for Riot is where they intend to take Mordekaiser . Is he a mage, a bruiser, or a tank? What does Riot want out of this champion, so that he can actually have a fixed role and good build paths? Because right now, it seems that he doesn't fulfill any function other than to feed the enemy.

What do you even start on him anymore? Since the one spell he actually uses in lane still has a high cost and his regen got gutted to Riven's level, you cant even farm/poke safetly anymore.

Starting Doran's or Rejuv seems like a waste because of the new regen mechanics. His pushing is weaker than ever atm because E kills you even faster than before, while Q is still short range on a weak early game champ. Might as well start Tome and B as soon as you get money for Gunblade, while staying as far away from the other guy as possible.

W's damage was gutted for a stupidly unreliable speed boost on it. And can someone tell me why the W damage cant stack? Seriously, when the fuck is anyone ever going to sit between Mord and a W'ed minion? Why cant he be rewarded for managing to catch someone inside a his minion wave, when said person will get out in a few seconds? Especially when we are in the league of mobility?

He always had to work twice as hard as any other burst mage/assassin to actually 100-0 people. Now his job is even harder because his early game sucks even more dick.

Hehe...he is even less of a threat all game long and has a support skill. How the hell does this fit his ''fantasy'' any better?

Hell, how the fuck isnt he filling his fantasy pre-rework? Super badass unstoppable, but slow, juggernaut that will tear your tear's body and soul apart if he gets the chance to. Sounds pretty damn close to his lore.

I actually would like to know why morde isnt just resourceless? None of his skills have anything to do with blood and we don't even know if he has a body of anykind from which to draw the health resource from.

Just so you know, Mordekaiser is not an assassin. He is an Ap bruiser, so stop comparing him with Zed Leblanc Ahri

Sigh I can't even understand why does Rito nerf things that were fine.

Health regen nerf? Not even context in the patch notes, just exists there because Riot wanted it to.

Health cost buffs to every skill except the skill that Morde uses the most often.

Good news, Morde kills himself even faster now! Great! It has improved his laning substantially!

First off simply don't take him mid...take him top where he will typically have a much easier time and I mean logically after the item 3152 get a item 3116 and then build tanky according to what the enemy is lol I mean if the enemy has tons of ad? go item 3025 sure the mana is gonna be useless but the sticking power from that and item 3116 and then just go from there
