Kassadin Role as an Assasin

There was a time when I loved Kass for the "riftwalk in blow some one up then riftwalk out," his two defining characteristics were mobility and damage. You countered Kass with CC/Silences just one was deadly to Kass with his low hp. These characteristics made him valuable assassin like Zed, Ahri, Kat, Talon ect.

In the past Kass was extremely overpowered, taking away the silence and nerfing his damage was, in my opinion, needed and healthy. With several "accidental" returns of the ghost of OP past, Kass has been resigned to a nerfed kit that is really only useful in niche situations.

While currently his late game is on par with most champions, until you get there, Kass is woefully stunted as a Assasin. If an enemy is above even 40% it is extremely risky to go in, the long cooldown on riftwalk, coupled with its decreased range leaves you stranded until riftwalk can come up again with is adequate time for a surviving enemy to kill you. To prevent this most players build Kass more as a mage tank then a AP assasin. Currently Kass has more in common with Mage Tanks such as Malphite Swain then Ahri Akali Fizz .

With Kass's current kit, I believe either an increase to single target damage or reduction on the cooldown of riftwalk would steer him back towards the role of assassin. To increase his damage I would suggest a single target attack such Nether Blade. This would give kass the single target threat to backlines that he use to have, and ground him as meele ap. This would forcing him to get up close which allows for counter play if Kass is reckless. Buffing his Q or W would see Kass played more like Ryze.

This is my first time writing one of these so interested with what you guys think.

well the thing is whether kassadin is an assasin or not judging by half of his mechanics he is because he gets in and unloads a combo judging b other half he isnt since he can spam ults all day and refill his mana on top of short cooldown on e

i think that him fitting into both those 2 playstyles makes his ballance even harder than it should be

The problem is if Kass is allowed to fulfill the core fantasy that players have assigned to him, he basically ruins the game for 5 other players because he basically can't be caught. I think he needs a refocusing more than anything else. Kass was designed, back in the day, as a magekiller. His core goal was to bounce in, mutilate the enemy mage, then bounce out. The problem was he ended up mutilating...everyone. Between his high damage, strong AoE slow, and strong DPS on his W, he could kinda shred the entire enemy team.

I actually wrote up a rework designed to focus him on single target damage and counter-magic, didn't get popular.
