Anyone else think Elixir's are a little un-intuitive?

They're just kinda 500 gold stat buffs for the end of the game. Like I haven't seen a strategical use for Elixir's since season 3. Even then, it was just a cheese strat.

Idk, I feel like they could definitely have more of strong place in the game. What if Elixir's served as a high risk high reward play creators that also played an immersive Elixir drinking experience.

Concept of Elixir of Sorcery: After 1.5 seconds, gain 20-60 Adaptive Force (Based on level) and 20% CDR, allowing you to temporarily exceed the cap(60% maximum). For 10 seconds. The effects begin to decay after 5 seconds. Once the effect is over, the user suffers -10 Adaptive Force, -10% CDR, -10% max CDR for 60-20 seconds based on game time.

Wrath and Iron could have their DPS and tank adaptations (respectively)

idk thanks for coming to my ted talk ig

Elixirs aren't just for when you're full build. They're for whenever the next fight would decide the game.

e.g. If you're sitting on 4 completed items and two components, can't finish your item but have 500g for an elixir, and Baron is respawning in 20 seconds - you should be buying an elixir. Sure - it puts your build 500g behind, however the extra strength is vital for that fight. If the elixir makes the difference between winning and losing that fight, the strategic choice to buy the elixir may have just won you the game.

Even if you would have won or lost the fight anyways, getting a cleaner win or closer loss can change a good play into a game-winning one, or a lost-game into a game where you still have a chance at a comeback.

Just because 99.99% of players won't touch an elixir until they're full build doesn't mean the strategic choice doesn't exist.

The same could be said for plenty of items that got reworked in the past. Why are they any different?

Also your example was still a "I have nothing else to spend 500g on. May as well get an elixir."

It's just the more obvious example. You should still buy an elixir over a item 1052 item 1036 oritem 1042 going into an important fight when you have an open slot. item 2139 item 2140 will give you way more value for the important fight than the small component will.

Seriously, elixirs give an surprising amount of damage if bought early. Of course, you could just get 1-shotted, or just not get into a teamfight untill the elixir wears off, so it's a risky strategy. Buying one early can swing a game in your favor, but only if you know to play to your advantage in those few minutes.
