ARAM Champ Select Idea: Being able to see a person's mastery on a champion before trading

So I play ARAM I lot, I have every champion, and I really love the mode. My idea is that when you are in champ select, and you have the option to trade another person, before clicking the trade button, you should be able to see what mastery level they have on the champion.

I think this is useful because:

  1. When someone is trading me, I want to know if they are doing it because they main the champ or they just want to play it. For example, if I haveBrand and they have Syndra , and they want to trade, I have no problem doing the trade, but I'd rather play Brand. Seeing they have points on Brand would make me more inclined to trade. Even if they have a champion I hate to play, I'll still do the trade if I see they main the champion I have.
  2. When people want to trade, I decline to trade, and the champion I have is their main, they don't say anything the majority of the time, and if they do say something, it is in game...kind of late, but it has happened.
  3. If I am indifferent about the champion I have, I'd like to see who has a mastery on it, and offer a trade. I normally just play the champion I get, but if I see someone has masteries on it, I'd at least ask if they wanted the champion or not.

That's all I really have to say about that, just thought it would be a useful concept to have. I know there are potential drawbacks to it, like people being jerks and denying you a champion because they can see your mastery, but I think the results will be more positive than negative.

P.S: While I'm making an ARAM post, bring back support items and stop their gold per second I miss my talisman Urgot , secondly, for the the love of Urf, stop dodging. Don't play the mode if you are going to dodge, it is actually more annoying than being against Veigar Xerath Velkoz Maokai Lux all at once

Lol, ya. I've never seen anyone threaten to feed in ARAM before though, just sad faces.

I took the liberty of fixing it for you. My fix is in all caps.

I'm all for this. Still won't trade away a Teemo though...

It's not that I absolutley love playing him (though I mostly do ;3 ), it's that I don't TRUST anyone else's Teemo. I don't trust them to be active participants in the general fray, like threatening areas just by being an extra body at a spot.

You can buy mastery level, can you not?

If by "buy" you mean upgrade in the loot, sure. Even then you need to get S ranked in SR. You still get mastery 4 or 5 by playing that champion. Doesn't mean that you are good with that champion though.

As in you pay Rito for champion rank?

No

You must be new to the shop in which rito sells masteries.

Can't wait for more e-peen waving in League!

What could possibly go wrong?

No. That is all your mastery idea gets.

Make ARAM-specific support items more like it. They did it for the Doran's line. I'd be pretty happy to see the support items back too, but I think they removed them because they were a bit cheese in ARAM for supports to be picking up (considering they tend to be at a strength in ARAM).

Ya I don't know about support items, it might have been a gold income thing, people using them just for that passive then selling them later, and that is why minions now give 5 gold when you don't kill them. The gold thing is also to speed up ARAMs

And ya, there are downsides to the idea.

No more e-peening in League. We have issues enough trying to have a civil goddam discussion without some mouth-breather exploding all over, shouting out about ranks.

Adding a Mastery view is just going to become a rank shaming we get to experience in-game. My bad, sorry I don't play one dude every time all the time always; that doesn't mean I'm giving it up to you just because you think you can min-max a game of ARAM that way.

Honestly, let's just back down off the Mastery system. The whole e-peen thing is a bit much. Of course, people need their vanity taunts, so it's here to stay... but let's at least leave it out of ARAM. I don't think anyone deserves anything more than IP for winning a game of ARAM that turns out to be a stomp based on one or both comps. Mastery least of all, when it may not even have tested if you can really play that champion.

It still takes some skill to play a champion in ARAM, especially if you are up against a really unfair comp and you manage to beat it. Not every game is a stomp.

I'm guessing you see a lot of that activity, but I really don't. I play ARAMs for fun like a lot of other people and I don't see too much negative BMing for the majority of my games. It's just for that reason that I don't see it being to much of an issue in champ select. I appreciate your input though.

Nearly 3000 games of ARAM, so I've seen just about everything-- from comps that should have absolutely won that go straight to losing, to 4v5s we start by losing and end up pushing because their 5th came back and bashed really hard and fed one of our carries or something. I've seen games where three or four of their team have self-heal and I, as Braum, have to buy wounds. I've seen it all, sistah! Name it in ARAM and I've played it!

I'm less worried about BM that happens now and more worried about this leading to BM. I'm also worried we're going to start increasing dodge rates when all these X mains see someone with mastery 1 or 2 playing their pick. We have huge dodge problems as it is and I think rocking the boat could affect this. Lots of 'solutions' would generate this problem as far as I can see, so it's not really that your idea is the problem-- it's the playerbase who dodges.

Thing is, I don't think this is a solution to any existing problem. It's a solution to something that isn't really happening and isn't really going to happen-- mastery leveraging trades. Most trades are decided by the other guy long before you've hit the button, whether they'll trade up or not. Showing off mastery probably won't change the fact that everyone wants to play high CC, high poke champs with a lot of safety (Lux, Caitlyn, Maokai...) and tends to eschew champions who fall off of the 'safe' and 'poke' scale (Udyr, Mordekaiser, Garen). What, exactly, would change about this should we see Mastery? I believe trading is done largely by the people. Some are the types who will trade, and some aren't; some champs are immediate shuck-offs and some are keepers for lyfe.

And is there really any doubt about people being shitty about it when it does pop up? We have to tell players why it's not okay to use racial or homophobic slurs. I'm not sure trusting them with such comparison is wise. I'm not saying you'll do it or it'll happen every game-- but then, I just want to confirm that we're not saying it won't either...

But with my voice pitched, a shit-eating grin on my face and wide eyes of a man who's seen't it already, I ask you but one single question on this:

What could possibly go wrong?

And that is largely the first thing we need to ask as soon as we dangle cheese over the mouse that is League... once we've delved and dug out that topic, then and only then should we talk about what comes after.
