Thoughts on how to adjust/improve/change Renekton

Renekton's basically got a lot of things going against him when compared to other bruisers like Darius, Garen, etc. He lacks a source of true damage, his sustain is noticably weaker, and he has less punch, all in exchange for somewhat limited mobility. Even with a dash, Renekton isn't that mobile, all things considered, and he still gets kited easily.

There's a few things I think could be changed for Renekton to make him a little better, but not while being a straight-up buff.

  • Change his heal to scale based on his missing health. Renekton's never felt like he can outplay people by waiting until the last second to burst-heal himself like Darius can, but in laning his consistent healing even when he's at high health makes him capable of oppression. Changing the heal to be weaker when he's healthy but stronger when he's wounded would help.

  • Renekton's passive could afford to be more dynamic, giving him more Fury generation at 75%, 50%, and 25% health stages. This would feel a lot less binary.

  • Renekton has never felt like he has good anti-armor solutions because it's tied to his empowered E. Darius and Garen get their anti-armor MUCH easier, whereas Renekton's is both weaker and tied to his mobility. That kinda sucks. I don't know how you'd fix it without it being broken, though.

If anyone else has ideas, feel free to share them.

He's supposed to be an early game lane bully and falls off, like Pantheon.

He however can build tankier than Pantheon and can dive into enemy teams a lot easier.

Okay, so then why is Darius allowed to be an early bully AND have strong late-game scaling?

He's overrated, imo. If you respect Darius' range and don't engage him toe to toe, he's not that bad. The problem is people who -think- they can beat him, then suddenly Darius heals & does a deceptively high amount of dmg with bleed, especially when stacked to 5. You want to engage Darius in short bursts, or fight him at a range. Ironically, Renekton is really good at fighting Darius because he can dash in, stun, chunk, dash out before Darius can do anything.

You can't really do this vs Renekton because he'll jump over the minion wave and chunk you.

Renek has way more mobility than Darius and isn't kited nearly as easily. He also does a lot more up-front burst and has stun.

Darius only wins if he snowballs and people misplay in teamfights and fail to kite him. He does more damage in teamfights b/c of his passive and aoe though. Irelia is way more of a late game monster than Darius is.

Renekton is good because of his early game power. If Renekton makes the most of his early game power, his mid game will be absolutely monsterous, and he'll win before anyone else can outscale him.

He's actually really good right now, if you excel at him. He even can beat a monster like Jayce.

He doesn't need any fancy changes, imo. The only point of yours I agree on is an inaccessible armor shred; I'd almost always rather use Empowered E or Q.

My suggestions:

  • Rename his E to 'Death Roll.' Much more crocodile friendly.

  • Empowered E, on hit, allows you to recast E a third time, for three dashes instead of two. Armor shred, of course, removed.

  • W now shreds 20% of target's bonus armor for 2 seconds. Similar to Sion's E.

That's all I want for him.
