Mundo goes where he pleases.

If Mundo pleases to be part of the assassin update, so be it.

Katarina 100%. I actually expected the 3rd reveal to be Kat because they said it'll be an ap assassin, but I was deceived :/

Who's the 3rd after Rengar and Talon ????

EDIT: It's LeBlanc. Gud.

I think it might be fizz or kata, Ekko might just get a small change

VoidStaresBack11 votes

It's probably going to be katarina, it's pretty widely agreed that she needs some major tune-ups. As much as people hate Fizz's troll pole, the only truly bad things about him are the hidden power in his w and his weird passive, so I doubt he'd be getting major changes.

Lost R3 votes

Ekko is a reasonably balanced assassin, despite what people want to delude themselves into thinking.

I can see four possible champions.

Katarina, due to having no real rhyme or reason to her skillset other than mashing them all in a specific order, multiplied by how many enemies she manages to kill.

Fizz, due to having very little risk for diving entire teams under turrets

Akali, due to having almost no champion interaction until level 6, when she starts facerolling single champions without much risk.

Evelynn, due to her stealth mechanics and extreme facerolling power with little interaction besides (run at the enemy until they die), though this is unlikely because she probably has a Visual Update to think about.

warpenguin5554 votes

i doubt its ekko too. cant be akali and eve though, those 2 are on the list for a VGU.

Lost R1 votes

I knew Evelynn was on the list; I didn't think Akali was, too.

So it's a toss up between Fizz and Katarina. Shit, that's a tough one.

kweeen3 votes

I think it'll be katarina because her kit is frankly kind of boring. Additionally, the only reason why she's able to perform so well is because of how strong her passive is. Without that passive, her current kit would be weak as hell. Additionally, in a stream somewhere a rioter had said that the version of katarina on internal severs was interesting. As a Kat main, I pray that she's a Big 4.

Shaydrox1 votes

Agree 100%, Kat much like Talon just has way more potential for a great kit than the one that's currently on the live server. They both promise to be agile blademasters, but don't do it well enough. Talon just lacks the agility, Kat lacks a bit in the blademaster aspect (imo).

MagikarpIsBoss1 votes

The reason why her kit is weak is because of her passive. If that passive wasnt there she would have kit buffs to compensate. But since she has that passive they have to compensate with nerfing her entire kit.

Akali and Evelynn are not being considered for major class update work because Reav3 and Meddler have stated over and over that they need full VGU work that a class pass won't fix. Hell, one Rioter said not too long ago that he'd be surprised if 2017 passed and Evelynn didn't get a relaunch.

They said that about Swain for the MYMU. Look what happened.

The changes weren't "major," but he had more changes than Vel'Koz (one of the "big 6").

they've mentioned they think kassadin has good design and decent counterplay options. They're not considering him for any changes anytime soon.

Which is a godsend compared to his previous state. Riot actually managed to balance him.

I would be very surprised if we got through 2017 without a Evelynn VGU. She is actually sitting at #2 on the most requested for a VGU list.

I was aware of this actually! In the direct previous post of mine, I stated that you guys had said you wouldn't focus on Eve or Akali in the class update due to the work they needed that would be better suited for a VGU. I then also stated that I had seen you state that you would be surprised if you didn't see her get that VGU next year. The post you replied to was directly after my other post where I was providing the link for my previous post. I was supporting my post with fact.

Quick question not really related to this, but I have noticed a lot of rioters on the boards lately responding to threads that they would normally never respond to. Is this going to become a common thing? because I know I like it and I think a lot of others do too.

Not sure if it relates specifically to board comments (though I'm sure it is a side product) but we definitely want to start increasing our communication more going forward. We feel we haven't been communicating as much as we could recently. I'm currently working on a bigger "State of Champion Update" Devblog that should go out later this month that should go into much more details about past, current and upcoming champion update projects. Plan is to get a solid direction of what our next big VGU after Warwick will be by then as well, so we can start talking to you guys about that too.

Only took rito 6 years to figure it out.

Any chance there will be communication on the future of already reworked champions? I can't speak for all Malzahar players but I am personally not all that happy with his rework and his current place in League. I am unfortunate in that many of the champions i played regularly have been reworked into something I don't like playing anymore or they are really bad now like Soraka, Sion, Garen, Mordekaiser, and Malzahar.

Would really appreciate some communication on that, I am pretty curious as to what will happen with some of my favorite champions.

RiotReav35 votes

I will be talking a bit about the Mage class update in the DevBlog

Shadow Hazard1 votes

This feels like a too little too late situation. Because of the work that was put into the malz update we know that the team will fight to not have to revert. What would it take for the team to admit of a mess up and need to fully revert or go back to drawing board(not preferable since I feel like malz will become another ryze needing a regular rework)

Stephenizgod1 votes

Sounds good, thank you for responding :)

Penta Ace1 votes

^This! Can I ask you specifically what it was about malz that made you unhappy? I felt the same way about swain and vlad not necessarily because anything balanced related but because they personally didn't feel satisfying or fun to play anymore.

Stephenizgod1 votes

Well I really liked the feel of old Malzahar, this is something that i feel was lost with the rework. When he was first released he was incredibly overpowered, which was an immediate turn off for me since I don't like to play OP champions.

Now he is too weak early-mid game to actually have kill pressure, which makes his laning phase INCREDIBLY BORING. Before the rework, I would play around my level 6, because I knew if i could get my opponent into a good position i would be able to time my Voidlings with my R and E to get a kill. Now that just isn't the case, the only way to get a kill early game is if the enemy is dumb enough to stand there and let Voidlings attack them for 15+ seconds. His ult actually had more counterplay before his rework to be honest, which created interesting match-ups.

He was turned from a DoT zone mage into a hardcore pushing suppress bot mage, which is not what I wanted in his rework. I wanted more emphasis on his unique DoT mage status as well as his Voidling mechanic, less emphasis on his crazy pushing power which I always thought was the root of what made him seem unviable in the meta. The current Voidling mechanic is cool in theory, but in practice it is either too strong or too weak. The same with his Passive, its either too strong or too weak. With the recent nerfs Malz is just too weak compared to old Malzahar, he even has less counterplay than before the only reason its not apparent is because of how safe he has to play now.

Now late game its back to the OP no counterplay Malz of click 3 buttons and watch them die, which I thought we wanted to fix. This is a double issue, not only does he rarely make it to late game status in time to impact the game, but when he does make it, there is very little you can do about him.

So to me they looked at his issues and focused on only 1 of them, his damage, and fixed that. They left all the old issues, which were than exacerbated by his new mechanics, and realized he was too strong. So here he is, nerfed pretty hard, and not fun to play anymore thanks to his super boring laning phase and ridiculous late game.

I would like to see the Passive removed, right now its useless against anyone who understands his kit, since they can just AA you before using their CC and boom you might as well not even have the passive. Once that is gone I think it will free up a lot of strength that can be spread throughout his kit. I think his Voidlings are too strong and too situational, I would be glad to reduce their overall power and make them more reliable. His E and R feel weak, just so very weak. They need to be stronger, since they were and are his only form of reliable damage. Take some power from his late game and move it to his laning phase, this is where he needs it to be honest, he needs some power to back up that stupid strong pushing power he has.

Basically get rid of this boring laid back farming laning phase and give him back his strong DoT zoning mage status in the lane. Allow him to actually pressure his lane opponent, instead of constantly being in fear of a gank even when the enemy laner is gone.

Holy shit can we rework morde to be a raid boss on the tier of nasus or fkn ryze? That would be sick for him

Raid Boss Morde1 votes

I'm all with you on that one, but I don't feel like Ryze fits the "raid boss" theme. Darius, Illaoi, Nasus, and Mordekaiser feel the most like a raid boss in the game. Hard to kill, but deal lots of damage.
