Karma feels so bad right now

Hyrum Graff··6 votes·644 views

Back in S4, I played 175 ranked games of Karma. She was my ticket out of silver. I cried tears of joy when Bjerg got a penta on my champ, in right lane.

Then people learned how 2 stand behind minions. Then came the new masteries.

This meta of squishies is when karma should be shining, but right now I don't know why I'd pick her. Can she have a little love, please?

Karma has had 4 straight buffs in the last 8 months. Overall Karma seems to be one of the most buffed champions of all time, in addition to her never having A SINGLE straight nerf. She still seems to slightly underperform, which makes her a weird buff-dumpster.

Karma has no reliable CC to shine as a support, no reliable damage to shine as a midlaner, and she is only really tanky when not CC'ed, when built tanky and heals on low health. This can be prevented by GW, by CC and she becomes a toothless monster anyways, because she has no offensive tank scalings.

No matter how much they buff her, she can't shine anywhere, if she doesn't get the tools. Or they finally overbuff her, so she shines everywhere and becomes toxic.

^ This is it right here.

I keep saying have her tether snare for half the duration when broken. That would work as a bandaid until they come up with a better solution for hard cc in Karma.

As for her damage, she lacks damage because she has no real ultimate. The issue with champions with no real ultimate is the lack of damage they have late game. Her mantra is more for early and mid game power spike, but falls off late game. She becomes insanely powerful early on if ahead, but can fall far behind if camped (kinda applies to everyone)

Karma is clearly not tanky which is why I have to run almost all scaling armor/Mr runes which kinda sucks to make her viable as the main tank.

Then there's no real incentive for actually disengaging from her.

Most Champions with access to Ultimate at level 1 tend to fall off. More power early means less Scaling.

Then I can't really think of any other way to give her hard cc. Also I don't think I've read any ideas for hard cc on Karma. If you heard some good ideas, let me know.

Karma just needs a more reliable damage source, it just so happens those were taken from her last year. As a tank Karma player you must have enjoyed her RW when it was 560+120% ap, right?

MisterShameless1 votes

I played her ap back then and only played her because my friend gifted me the lotus. Also it was mostly me and friends playing against bots so I didn't try her tank.

Even so you like to play tank Karma, and the 560 base damage on her RW back then made tank Karma more viable.

Give her back the % missing health heal on mantra Q.

Or the mega shield bomb.

Give Karma some options Riot.

I remember reading the idea of having the old Karma being re-released as a different champion with the usual story of two sisters separated by birth and have the sister turn evil because she was raised in Noxus. She would have the old karma skill set (updated and improved of course) and have the current karma with rework/improved version of her current kit done at the same time the evil sister is released. Maybe have some aspect where they are the opposite of each other in both characters and playstyle. On paper, this may solve the whole keep the current karma or bring back the old karma dilemma, but it could cause another mess of some sort.

Ooh, you know what I'm going to do? I'm going to take that idea, modify it slightly, and pass it off as my own. So what if we had a Karma that was two champions? One of them Ionian, the other Noxian, fused into one "balanced" being? Base spells could be what they are, but Mantra actually straight up switches you to the Noxus Karma for a spell, giving you "evil" versions of the same spell. Like the shield could, instead of MS, give AP/AD. Or the snare could...well it would hurt more...and...Grievous Wounds maybe...instead of a mega root maybe a short terrify? Idk. The missile is also difficult. I just don't like the idea of her getting her ult at level one, and her ult giving her objectively better spells because I feel like so much of her power budget is in her absurd "ult-Q level one", so I think this could be a cool way to implement that without just turning her into Jayce/Elise/Nidalee

I believed you mentioned this idea in another karma thread a while back. I also like this idea for karma as well. Would be easier than releasing a new champion.

Make her Q be able to switch from a short ranged, high damage burst (which could be use for wave clearing and nuking those who get close to you) or switch it to a decent poke skill used more for utility as a slow. Her w could have a weak heal and damage for the duration of the tether followed by a snare or switch to a tether that increases your damage to that target with a grievous wound being applied with small damage from the tether. Her E could be a shield with a damaging aura to the shielded or switch to an aura that increases resistance and movement speed.

idk, I'm not making any good ideas myself for a new skill set, but I'll leave it to Riot to figure something out.

With the new masteries she is doing well as a tank (which is how I main her) and I've seen others do well as AP. Not a lot of mains are happy with how she is, but I mained her after the rework so I have a different opinion than those who mained her prework.

What issues are you having with her right now besides Maw being build almost 24/7? which I despise atm

What do you want them to do? They've buffed her loads of times.

Unfortunately the problem with Karma is her kit is an extension of other elements and champion kits in the game. She has only one source of damage, a tether that . . . . is very lack luster, and an overpowered shield that received an unnecessary buff.

What Karma really needs is:

A new passive. More damage options. Better CC options. A more unique way to play her kit . . . so it doesn't feel bland and lazy. All of her animations done. Riot actually giving a crap.
