Why is Rotating game mode not week long?

I understand Riot wants summoner's rift to be the main attraction, but a lot of people only come to play on weekends for the event modes. No one really wants to spend 40 minutes in game while their team feeds and the game was over ages ago.

They used to. Both it and normal queues became less populated, moreso at higher ranks. However, on weekends there are many more players, so the queues can handle the split much more easily.
