So... why did Lethality get buffed from 40% to 60% instead of to 50%?

If 40% was too weak, buffing it by a smaller amount to 50% seems like it would've been smarter than a massive jump to 60%. Which now turns out to be broken.

I have a feeling you don't know what those numbers even mean

It's what percent of Lethality is given as immediate flat armorpen.

Are you drunk?

MaeDoSan2 votes

So did you see the change in % damage or did you just assume the damage went up by 20% ??

MissingKayo1 votes

Riot literally stated themselves they buffed it from 40% to 60%. Quit drinking.

Then my initial guess was true , unfortunate

Lethality was changed so that it has the same value at lvl 18 as it did before with the greatest difference being it now having 20% difference at lvl 1. So there is a 20% increase in Armour pen at the most which is lvl 1 coming all the way down to 10 % at lvl 11 and 0% at 18. This means you armor penetration was increased by 10% at best by lvl 11 when you would have a decent amount of lethality. Putting this into the denominator of the fraction with numerator 100 that represents the percentage of damage you take will be the sum of 100 + around 50 armor minus you have full lethality at runes and then a ghostblade would mean around 50 lethality which is around 80% effective giving you 38 lethality before now 42 lethality meaning damage taken will go from 89% to 92.6% so in all there was a 4% increase in damage taking karma's base armor and armour yellow runes and no other armor items assuming the adc manages to get a yomumus by 11 mins and has full lethality runes, now if we take the 50% increase you mention , it gives us 40 lethality which is 91% damage What your saying has become op is a 4% increase in damage , which you want to get toned down by 2% to make it okay ? Coz im pretty sure your dumb ass got supersized as fck when adcs started building full lethality and you didn't buy armour and now a buff of 4% damage is fcking op coz im being honest with your dumbass , doesnt matter if riot nerfs lethality it will still feel op unless ur a braindead meta monkey and get hit by placebo and jizz your pants when you see lethality nerfs and be like now everything is fine coz i don't math

?

Crit adcs are still garbage.

Jhin domianting doesnt exactly mean adcs are great.

You can take lethality on pretty much any ADC.

My friend takes it on Caitlyn all the time, and even played it with jinx.

Lethality is fine on the characters who were meant to build it. Just like Sterak's Gage was fine on the characters who were meant to build it.

Marksmen ruin everything for everyone, though.

The answer is for Lethality to have a reduced benefit for ranged characters, not to nerf it across the board for everyone.

I have been and still am of the belief that riot sometimes intentionally overshoots things so that the players get a sense of how powerful it is before bringing ti back in line later.

If they were to make things balanced on release or change immediately, people would call them weak, like release Taliyah and release velkoz or Post Lethality rework'd Talon.

People don't notice the merits of things immediately unless it is overpowered for them to see the merits of the thing. If something comes out balanced, it only ever feels "okay" or "mediocre" to most people, whereas is something comes out overtuned and then is brought in line, the impact it originally had remains even if it requires a bit more effort and isn't as easy.

This is why Yasuo was retardedly buffed at release even tho he was OP on release. No one knew how to play the guy so everyone claimed he was UP, Riot then buffed him and he became the single most overtuned champ in league history for that period and that impact has remained so heavily despite him getting nothing but nerfs since then. to the point where he is far weaker than even his release state.

In this regard, the item 3814 fiasco is following suite.

Few got it before the Lethality changes because few knew how to make proper use of it. Making the CD so short means people can "abuse" it before they bring it back in line as it was before and then can properly apply it at a reasonable level now that they were able to appreciate its power.

Just make it to 45 % it was fine at 40 % 45 should be already be enought but it feels like Some clown is leading riot with such unneccesarry buffs ofc adcs needs some buff but please do it to the champion and not Freaking god dammit to items

The Lethality buff wasn't meant for ADCs. Lethality was just a bad stat, even on the Assassins it's supposed to be built for. The buff made it worth building on them, and it's currently decently balanced on them.

It needs to have a reduced benefit for ranged characters, as some items already do.

They should make more little small buffs then one big impact buff like in the old days

With the overwhelming amount of data that Riot has, they can make informed decisions about how much to buff or nerf something.

League is all math. They don't just say, "Let's do this little bit of buffing and see if it works for a patch." They make informed decisions based on what people are building, how much damage they do per game when they did build Lethality, when they didn't, etc, etc.

They decided that, for Assassins to do competitive damage with Lethality, it had to be 60%. They didn't expect ADCs to build it; and that sort of thing happens all the time. It happened with Sterak's. It'll happen again with something else.
