Is Mundo a Tank or a Juggernaut?

I want to make this clear, because Hashinshin keeps referring mundo as a Tank. While I see him more like a Juggernaut, -High Damage like a Juggernaut -High HP like a Juggernaut -Soft CC -No mobility like a Juggernaut

Hashinshin knows absolutely fucking nothing, honestly. People need to stop listening to him.

Mundo is a juggernaut.

He has no utility and can only contribute damage to a team. That would make Mundo fall under the tanky dps/juggernaut category. Tanks in LoL generally have high utility, but low damage, relying on their teammates for damage output.

Mundo is a proto-juggernaut, like volibear. He hasnt been reworked to officially BE one, but his kit was juggernaut before juggernauts were a thing.

"Tank" in league of legends is a general, broad sweeping term though as it refers to any champion who builds above 3000HP and 150armor.

"Tank" in League actually refers to a beefy character who builds pretty much pure defenses, who works the front lines by providing engage, crowd control, and utility for their team as they work to control the fight. It's not a "general, broad sweeping term" because it refers to a very specific class and kit composition. People are just ignorant and think they can apply the term to any character who has high HP and is hard to kill, and most commonly people claim juggernauts like Darius and Garen are tanks when in reality their utility and crowd control are minor and nonexistent.

... You realize that most peoples definition of tank is: Gragas with item 1402 item 3027 item 3065 item 3742 item 3047 Or Renekton with item 3071 item 3748 item 3742 item 3065 item 3047
Right? Theyre not true tanks, but because true tanks dont have unique itemization and their itemization is better used by bruisers, theyre what people think of when you say "tank" in league of legends. Further, anyone in league of legends can be a tank if you buy tank items, where not everyone can be a bruiser, a juggernaut, an assassin, or a marksman.

He is a juggernaut. Everyone who uses him as an example of tanks being viable and okay are ignorant.

he has:

  • low utility (one single target slow)
  • no mobility (only a ms increase on his ultimate)
  • massive health scaling
  • high base damage (his q does % health magic damage or true damage when at its minimum)
  • a massive health scaling ad steroid

hes a jugger.

Builds like a dedicated tank, fights like an actual juggernaut.

Vangaurds and wardens are the two different "official" types of tanks, and each of them offer some kind of CC or peel to disrupt the enemy. Mundo doesn't have either of those, and like jugernauts, just try to jump in a dogpile and just beat the shit out of as many people as he can.

I would still call him a tank because you can have him be literally unkillable, but that doesn't mean he can fulfill duties that a usual tank performs.

In my view, he is a Tank. I see juggernauts as a champ that generally build 1 damage item, then build tank. They are meant to deal damage. Mundo is not supposed to deal damage. He is supposed to absorb damage and then heal back up while his team does damage.

Mundo offers no CC or utility aside from a slow. And even though he builds defensively, he still deals loads of damage, and his play pattern and kit composition mirror that of juggernauts, not tanks. Tanks are like Nautilus, Zac, Sejuani, and Taric. Juggernauts are like Mundo, Garen, Darius, and Nasus.

Some Mundos build a Titanic Hydra so that's your damage item.

or item 3046

if you have a 300 ad steroid and are ahead, the best way to scale up your damage on mundo is a pd.

Before the juggernaut subclass was defined he was classified as a tank. He can be called a tank unless in the presence of someone who strictly follows the subclass bible.

He's basically a sub-tier I like to call "Aggro-tank"

While they have resistances, they aren't exactly CC tanks, but they pose a threat, namely for the squishes, and must be dealt with. The other Champion I like to call that is Olaf, so I guess Juggernaut is a fitting title.
