Why linking Smurfs to Main Account makes sense in 2016...

It's 2016, we have the technology, make it so.

Smurf accounts could receive special perks for linking to main account;

  • Shared Runes
  • Increased Leveling Perk

AND

Both accounts would be held accountable to the other;

  • Act like jerk on your Smurf, then the Smurf AND Main Account receive discipline action.

_** This increases the enjoyment of Smurfs for all. The smurf player has less of an IP / leveling grind AND is accountable for actions on Smurf account.

Shouldn't Smurfing be discouraged in the first place. It creates an imbalanced, unwelcoming, and sometimes even toxic environment for newer players, which goes against Riots design philosophy in general.

Personally, I've had enough of Smurfs in my Ranked games and I would love it if they would gtfo so I wouldn't have to deal with strategies that outclass mines completely. Matchmaking is like a scale. The more experienced you are, the heavier the object you have. Currently, I probably have a walnut. Some people lower than me might have peanuts or marshmallows. When I have to face someone with a fucking boulder at their disposal, it's going to tip the scales completely in their favour. That shouldn't happen in a system where people of similar MMR (or weight in my example) are pitted against each other.

Why smurf? I mean it's fine to do, but if you're not some challenger with enormous queue times or some LCS pro hiding your practicing or something then why smurf? Have some guts! :D

You want to play with your bronze friend when you're platinum? Normals!

Scared of your MMR tanking if you lose? Grow a pair. :D

Smurfs ruin games. Take CS:GO for example, its nearly impossible for people to rank when the highest ranks are smurfing as silvers...

Making it easier for Diamond+ to smurf in LoL as bronze/silver would ruin/break the game. Riot would never do this.

To those saying "no one would link"... get real. A lot of people would.

But say even a minority of smurfs would, so what. This is only a benefit, no one is penalized for not doing so.

I don't get the resistance.

whats the point of a smurf if its linked to the main account again?

If anything, Riot discourages smurfing in the first place.

I have smurf accounts,

I mainly play on them when I am tilting or just returning from being away for a long time.

I think that's kind of defeating the purpose of a smurf. If you're such a high elo on a main account, then why do you need shared runes from your main to intentionally compete in lower elo than your main's skill?

They don't want you to spam smurf accounts

YSeT9iEzJK8/10/2016, 4:38:28 PM1 votes

but what if your main was permabanned like my old main ?

Vaelentino8/11/2016, 3:48:32 PM1 votes

Smurfing should be more than discouraged, it should be a bannable offense by tracing IP and banning all accounts linked to that IP.

C0ntract0r8/10/2016, 4:39:09 PM1 votes

NOBODY would link smurfs. not one.

lilpokfluf8/10/2016, 5:30:27 PM1 votes

Too many smurfs use it as an excuse to be jerks to people, they won't link especially if one gets perma banned I would assume they all get banned
