@ Riot - A note about my egregious Permanent Ban

Dear Riot,

Why am I permanently banned? Let us explore... (TLDR @ bottom).

  • "But what if I Reform? Is it possible to go down the escalation path? Yes! Players who show consistent reform or show positive behavior in their games will help heal their accounts reputation."

I was disciplined back in 2014. Since then, no discipline, not even a chat restriction. So I assume my account is in good standing and if discipline is warranted it should follow Riot's own stated discipline policy:

  • "Punishments generally follow a basic escalation path: First Offense: 10 Game Chat Restriction Second Offense: 25 Game Chat Restriction Third Offense: Two Week Suspension Fourth Offense: Permanent Suspension"

So being that my account is in good standing (no discipline since 2014), for some reason I have been jumped to a Permanent Ban, which is possible:

  • "It is possible to skip to a Two Week or Permanent suspension based on the severity of the behavior in the game."

But I unequivocally state I have done nothing to warrant a jump to Permanent Ban.

AT THE VERY MOST, I say things like "gg" and "open mid" or occasionally I call out the troll/feeder akin to "0/10 Tryn, don't FP if you don't know how to play it".

That's it. Nothing more. If I did it too much, chat restrict me and proceed with progressive discipline.... which is Your Own Stated Policy.

I am directly and respectfully, calling you out Riot. As a 5 year player, show me where I was over the top, terrible, excessively toxic, swearing, berating, vulgar, homophobic, sexist or anything else so toxic as to completely bypass your own "Discipline Escalation Path" and jump to a Permanent Ban reserved for the most toxic incidents and players.

PS: I have received NO communication from Riot. No email, no reform card, nothing. Just a 'log-in error' stating the account has been permanently banned.

  • TLDR: Perma Banned out of no where. No discipline since 2014. Occasionally I say things like "gg", "open mid", "I'm done" or I call out a troll / feeder. At most this would make me a candidate for Chat Restriction which starts me on progressive discipline. NEVER do use vulgarities/racial slurs/homophobic slurs/sexist slurs/obscene language/berate players and so on. I have received no email, reform card or any communication from Riot. Why on earth have I been Perma Banned?

Just heard back from Riot...

Permanent Ban reduced to a 2 week ban!

I think this is fair. I never claimed innocence, but I don't do stuff that would get be permanently banned.

What EXACTLY does it say when you log in?

It doesn't really sound like you were banned for chat. If that was the case you should still be able to log in and your reform card would pop up. And almost everything you posted about their policies apply exclusively to chat related offenses.

I hope you hear something because I've lost faith in riot's punishment system as a whole when things like this happen.

it's funny how they won't punish someone for hate speech unless they do it in several games, yet, will just perma ban people with no explanation

Question: Is there a meaning I can take away from 1) no reform card 2) no email 3) no date on the log-in error message; like "account permanently suspended until 2298"?

Do those particulars indicate a Permanent Ban for extreme toxicity or financial or 3rd party programs or account sharing or something else entirely?

I refute all those reasons... just trying think why on earth I was Permanently Banned.

Edit: Could Riot have prevented a hacking incident and is holding the account until I can prove ownership??

Super Edit: I can't log-in to the client because of the Permanent Suspension error message.. But I can log into the mobile app and chat just fine?

The account was audited and issued a suspension resulting from negative experiences being caused to others. This kind of behavior includes the purposeful griefing or trolling. hurting the game experience for others. I'm confused.

I don't troll, and saying tame things in chat warrant a Chat Restriction not a Permanent Ban. Why did I get jumped to the most severe punishment?

Please show me behavior / chat that warrants a jump to Permanent Ban instead of a lesser option (10 game Chat Restriction, 25 game Chat Restriction or 2 week Ban).

I am respectfully defiant about this. None of my behavior nor speech warrants a Permanent ban as I have had no disciplinary action for 2 years and my account is in good standing.

I don't see anything standing out as trolling. There were a few /meh games, but I checked and the whole team did /meh.

Stomps do happen... Aka the numorous complaints about the snowballing of the game. But I don't troll.

I'm mad. Riot show me where I trolled or ANY behavior worthy of permanently banning a 5 year account that has been in good standing since 2014. Heck I even got the most recent good behavior icon...

Spoiler: You can't. Remove this PERMANENT Ban or use your own Punishment Progression Ladder at least.

Well, actually according to the End User Licence agreement, Riot can ban players without warning and are not required to explain their reasoning for the ban. The responsed from the play behaviour specialists is mostly just PR. Its nothing personal, it's just business. Now don't get me wrong, I love Riot games, its just their game so they can do with their game as they want.

So... what reason did the email say you were banned for? Or did it say like, you were banned till the year 2222 or something? If so, the year number is a code that Riot uses.

  1. Make sure you've checked the email associated with the banned account.
  2. Check your junk mail folder.
  3. If you still can't find the email, file a support ticket so you can get it resent.

Double check your match history, make sure there aren't any games that you didn't play. Could be a case of account sharing/hacked.

What's the date on your perma? Dates like 2030 have been known to be from payment errors.

It is pointless, they will not lift your permanent ban. All the time you spend trying to contract Riot could be spend leveling up a new account. You my have gotten gangbank-reported by a 4-man premade. What you should do now is focus on making a new account.

Yeah I know you lost thousands of hours, hundreds of dollars etc, but you should still make a new account. If you got a little money, you can buy double XP boosts and be level 30 in just a week. Even without your runes you should still be able to do fairly well. They may have taken all your champions, runes and stuff, but they can never take away your game knowledge.
