Why did Riot think damage meta was ok?

Glîtchy··5 votes·1,471 views

Literally the following nearly 100-0 me or 1-shot no matter who I pick and might I add Kayn and Zoe nearly 100-0 with just 1 item, which is bs at it's finest.

MasterYi Kayn Zoe Fizz Udyr Pantheon Aatrox

seriously, whoever thought of a meta where all damage champs can steamroll everyone is ok should be fired.

why not go back to the balance of S4 (the meta before juggernauts in S5)? those were the good old days

I prefer fighting and dying to having Trick2G fan 55 afk in jungle all game while our whole team struggles then 1v5. Those matches were 35+ minutes of garbage only to get carried by someone being as obnoxious as possible.

Or my favorite, getting 1v5'd even though your team spent all game dumpstering the enemy team. It was so fun to win all game then lose in the last 15 minutes because one item warped the meta.

I'd rather hav damage be high because at least then I can hav fun and not deal with someone trying to OPEN THE GAAAAATES, OPEN THE GAAAAAAATES, OPEN THE GAAAAATES

you certainly live up to your name, but bitching like that doesn't make your argument strong AT ALL

Thank you. Being aggravated is my thing and I gotta live up to that moniker.

I'm also quite good at telling people to take off their nostalgia goggles and to stop pining for a meta that was "before the juggernauts" because those were awful too lol.

they were better than this, one reason being turrets weren't over glorified fancy paperweights.

That was the season where Lucian was god and melted towers. The days of the Renekton bar, where if you weren't Renekton or a mage, you weren't having fun top lane. When supports got enough gold that if you played a tanky support like Leona you didn't care about towers. Where ironically, turrets got nerfed because they were turning into safe havens later in the season, making games drag on too long because champs were undiveable

So you want a season where your options were to either cower under the unkillable turret or die to one of the many(lol, like 12) meta relevant champs out there at the moment? At least cower until the Udyr/Yi/Warwick tower dove you and killed you anyways

My point being, that meta was better because it wasn't "oh hey you're adc? screw you, you died" "Oh hey I'm Master Yi, I 100-0 you in seconds before I even build boots" "Oh I'm Akali reworked by CertainlyT, I kill you, then hide in shroud then kill the next guy"

seriously, you prefer all this insta-death over a a chance of making a comeback? heck many champs have become irrelevant because of how much shorter games are now, like Nasus, most marksmen, and other late game champs.

Yes, because snowballing was still an issue back then. To the point that Riot had to add anti snowball measures to enable comebacks.

ADCs still died in one hit because Annie and other mages were a meta supports.

Yi could 100-0 teams because Feral Flare was oppressive.

Akali didn't need to hide in her shroud, she just killed you post 6 and you couldn't escape because of her 4 targeted dashes.

Rose. Tinted. Glasses.

Why you think they amped up advertisements for the game? Made lootboxes even rarer forcing you to buy em Made essence barely function

They won't show this but riot is losing customers and for the first time in years they don't know what the fuck to do. They pissed off a large portion of the fanbase and think they can appeal to the casualized gamer with "BIG PLAY LESS SKILL" IMO you can't even call this "League of legends" anymore this is a whole new game and its pretty garbage

Also "Why did riot think?" They Think? Since when?[slayer-jinx-wink]

Just go play something else till they stop being jackasses and go back to what made "league" a good game

Priming people with instant rewards from 100-0'ing people makes them spend more money in the shop on things they don't need when they are frustrated when they are on the receiving end of a stomp with no agency.

They think it's ok because they hired a squad of psychologists to make bank. They are currently making bank. Who cares about games balance or player satisfaction.

They've got people quitting in droves, what makes you think they're making bank?

Odds are they're still reeling from the Ardent meta which was, "ADC solo playmaker. Game stays stagnant for a solid month or two to not shake up pro play too much." So they're trying to mix things up and make it so that people outside of the AD role can carry.

It's really that simple.

Did you even take a psych course?

because most businesses rely on a few whales more than a bunch of guppies. Those with impulse control leave. Those they want to keep on the hook stay.

If they wanted to keep whales in the hook, they'd keep the game familiar to that the whales know and love. They'd keep all the same shit champs and wouldn't rework them.

Which is not what's happening. They're changing the game at a faster rate than ever.

And if they actually wanted whales to spend, they would throw skins on whatever champion as the whales would just buy it anyway, right? Nope, they generally concentrate their skin sales around specific champions because 10% of the population saying, "I'll just spend $10 on this new Ahri/Ezreal/MF/Lux/Annie skin." is a hell of a lot more impactful than throwing out skin concepts left and right to hopefully get $100 from 1% of the population.

I take it you're not well versed in psych OR economics.

You seem to miss the whole issue of the whales not being 40+ year olds that have been playing for 8 years but instead low impulse control kids and young adults that have been around for about a year. As well as some other things. But hey, you are being rude enough to deflect from your ignorance. So yay for you.

A few issues with that.

  1. I really like how making this sweeping generalization that all assassin mains are kids with low impulse control that need to be able to one-shot you.

  2. Why would Riot cater to the new players when that market is being absolutely dominated by Fortnite? They're finally making the game more newbie friendly but the changes they've been making have not been for the young players but for the high elos who had consistently complain, up until the assassin meta came into play, that their ability to be aggressive is being halted by the sheer number of defensive tools in the game. Why do you think that Lost Chapter mages kept getting nerfed far past when they were usable in low elo? Simply put they were still busted in high elo play. Changes have been and continue to be aimed at roughly a d5-d4 level. Not casual one-shot idiots.

But hey, as per internet rules you accused me of being ignorant so I gotta start by proving you wrong, instead of you proving yourself right. So yay for me.

problem with that is, if you can't satisfy your playerbase, who will you make bank off of?

when you feed champions they buy items, when they buy items, they get alot stronger and deal more damage, when they deal more damage and you dont stay safe and learn from your mistakes then you FEED them MORE, and rinse and repeat, you kids think you should get a trophy for losing and its PATHETIC.

not even remotely close, a champ shouldn't be able to steamroll you the entire game just by being ahead by 1 kill/1 full item.

what???? you died once when they had no item, how will they not have an even LARGER advantage with a full item? an item like lets say echos or blood thirster wont give them a HUGE ADVANTAGE over YOU?

item 3285 is a major powerspike for alot of champions though, any decent player will keep poking you down so they can all in you..sometimes you have to freeze a minion wave and ward.
