LP imbalance makes ranking=cancer

Request to Riot: stop the weighting of LP rewards, please.

I can understand some amount of rating, if you're deliberately teaming up with differntly ranked people, so your matching ELO balance is off. But it isnt fair when you individually queue.

That is to say: Stop the effect where you are justing play solo, and keep getting LESS for wins, than you lose on losses. It completely screws over the idea of "if you improve your play, you can just win 51% of your games and get out".

The common, soul-crushing mantra is, "git good, and you can climb. After all, pro players do 'unranked to diamond' on smurf accounts all the time".

HOWEVER, I've been watching one of those on youtube. They consistently get WAY MORE LP for win, than for losses. Meanwhile, normal people get stuck in LP hell, where they can go 50/50 on win/loss, but keep getting sunk lower and lower.

This isnt right. Please just make it a fixed, equal amount for win/loss solo LP rewards. Consistently 20LP for win, 20LP for loss, or something. It's bad enough where matching you with feeding idiots means you'll lose a game no matter what you do. But when you're in a situation where you somehow have to win TWO games, to make up for that 1 loss.. it's enough to make people STOP PLAYING.

you want more people to keep playing, right, Riot?

That's just not how it works.

There's LP and MMR.

MMR is determined by wins losses and the relative MMRs of the players involved.

LP is determined by your MMR vs the MMR that is expected for your division / tier.

Your league standing lags behind MMR.

The number of LP you gain or lose reflects where your league standing is in respect to where the system feels it should be.

So -

if the you are "underweight" and should be climbing, it gives you more LP for a win and less for a loss.

If you are "overweight" the opposite happens

I perfectly understand "thats not how it works".

I'm saying "how it works, SUCKS, and is grossly unfair. Riot please change it".

"the system", shouldnt get to screw with your position based on "feels", as you put it.

if you win more than you lose, you should go up. if you lose more than you win, you should go down. Thats common sense, and fair play. That's how it should be, if riot insists on rating people on team win/loss, rather than actual individual contribution.

Pure MMR based placement theory is already screwed here by multiple factors:

  1. MMR was derived from CHESS matches, etc. 1v1 type matchups. Using it on groups of people.. particularly when they are semi-randomly grouped..., is just nuts.
  2. win/loss is already screwed up enough by people teaming up with others.

This would be fixed by a PURE "solo only queue"... but riot has chickened out on giving us that. So they need to fix things to be more fair to solo players in the meantime.
