Why is riot basing the game around knock up/CC champions now?

Rek'sai, Kalista, Azir, Gnar, Braum, Vel'koz, and Yasuo are the past seven champions to be released into this game. Every single one of these champions, including Kalista who is an ADC, has some type of CC/Knockup/Stun. Besides the newest champion Bard, there seems to be a repetition of making champions with CC. What is the logic behind this? Whoever has the better CC wombo combo now essentially wins, and it leaves little creativity. It also makes champions like Katarina and Yi (Both champions who have a very low skill cap/are easy to master) excel in team fights with no effort once CC is laid down.

I am complaining a bit, but I want to understand why exactly Riot wants to go in this direction. To make seven of the most recent champions all have CC is kinda derp.

Because if it doesn't have CC or mobility, it is trash, no exceptions.

When Yasuo was introduced they apparently decided more champions needed knock-ups so he can spam his overpowered ult even more.

Commonly accepted answer: CC + damage + mobility = fun to watch plays. Really seems like Riot is designing and balancing champs around what's fun to watch and play (for the person playing the champ with CC + damage + mobility). For example, Thresh is fun as hell to play, but I agree that his kit is overstuffed, and compared to most other support tanks, his power budget is way higher than it needs to be, and that's after he got nerfed after his release. A lot of their newer champs have the Holy Trinity of Damage, Mobility and CC, and that's why they either have to be nerfed into the ground or, well, just make us deal with them.

Bear in mind, most champions in the game have some form of hard CC especially tanks and mages, knockups are essentially just stuns that you can't reduce the duration of. So this isn't anything really new in terms of people having tons of CC (now people having both CC and mobility, thats different)

I think a rioter said a while ago that knockups feel better to use too (which is somewhat agreeable, knockups certainly feel more impactful than stuns)

Knock up is the only form of CC that isn't reduced by Tenacity I think
