Why duo top is hated so much?

ThePikol··4 votes·3,582 views

I don't get it, whenever me and my duo partner want to go top together we are flamed, I know the team shoud have top, jungle, mid, adc, supp, but I don't get why duo top and no jungle is so bad. I see it like this: Pros of duo top: -if their jungler is still doing his jungle job we gonna win by far, because we are 2 vs 1 most of the time, we willl push top eaarly, and then can help other lanes -if their jungler is staying on top to help my teammates will have easier laning, because they don't have to be afraid of ganks, and we on top will have a normal laning phase because 2vs2 is pretty even. Their jungler will be behind because his jungle items and smite won't be so usefull. Their team will flame because they will want ganks and either won't get any or we will be 2 vs 1 again on top.

Cons: -we will have to split gold from wave on 2

And since we are on topic, how will it work with new system? Can we lock top and jungle and then both go top, since our top agreed to this?

if you're doing any duo lane and sharing cs you're doing it wrong. One of you needs to get a gold item

If they are two bruisers they could even both take relic shields.

You're at an exp disadvantage. I've had people in normals instalock top after I called it, continue to stay set up for going top, and then stick in top lane with me ingame, then proceed to fucking die for some reason even though we have two people.

Yeah, meybe we're doing good because we are premade? But almost every game like that we don't fall behind at all but rather pushing hard unles we are 3 vs 2 a lot (their mid laner comes to us) but then our mid is pushing, right?

Duo top is simply not meta, if your mid and bot lane lose lane they have no other support coming your jungle not being taken will cause you team to lack in A LOT of team gold. You will have NO control over objective. And the top lane will out level you witch with the new minion pushing system will cause you to lose pressure in every lane. The new system does not inherently allow duo too but you might just end cause some one to dodge if you attemp to do it any way

if you dont have a jungler, you lose out on map and objective control (no smite means easy baron and dragon steals for the enemy). youre also dividing 3 lanes worth of gold income by 5 instead of 4 by 5, and hand your own jungle and the buffs on a silver platter to the enemy.

for example the enemy jungler can give off his red and blue to his lanes and then take yours. makes a large difference.

in principle a duo top lane is doable if youre not a retard about it and get a team comp together that makes sense. if your jungler is an adc for example, you can put a 0cs support and a bruiser into a duo lane who synergize very well (darius + blitz for example).

if you want to put this duo lane on top, you have to run someone on bottom, who can farm and defend his turret vs an adc and his spupport without getting destroyed.

if you have 2 melees in your duo lane, both can get targons. however you should still focus on having a 0cs while the other guy gets the farm. it would just mean the support would get a bit more gold. which wouldnt be stupid and might overall work out better than the traditional adc/0cs bot lane.

i tried a duo bruiser bot lane a while back with volibear shen and we won lane hard i already locked shenand the last pick took volibear by mistake it works pretty well with 2 relic shields and if you get ahead early and deny the adc a lot of farm but its a risky endeavour same with duo top lane or bot is going solo or jugler is void but if you can get ahead early and push the first tower fast then one of you starts to do good roams it could work just to many ifs and whens then with normal meta

thats why you need a support who synergizes well with the bruiser. either somone like thresh who can initiate the fight and help him close the gap into melee with his lantern, or someone like naut or blitz who can bring the enemy to them.

alternatively you can take a cc machine and a mobile assassin into a duo lane.

one way or another, you sadly still need an adc at least somewhere else on the map. most likely in the jungle or mid lane to help take drakes and turrets. otherwise youre gonna have problems pushing your advantage by midgame.

teamcomps that dont include an adc might win early, but usually fall off like crazy even from an advantage by the time the game hits 25 to 30 minutes.

if youve ever tried to take baron, drake or a turret with and without an adc, youll know why.

Thx for replies guys, but do you all tell from experience or it's your logic and theory, because 8/10 our duo top games we have won our lanes, didn't fall behind in lvl (don't know how XD) and pushed hard. Most of this games thair jungler was babysiting top, so wasn't it even for every lane? Recently we tried duo top we would win easly if our mid and bot didn't feed (but it was their fist time this champs so i didn't complain). We shared gold and completed 5 items, so why all of you are telling one must be supp with gold item? I know it's not meta and all, I'm just curious and gathering downvotes already.

Most of players tried duo top at some point as a cheesy strategy for duoQ or in normals, but the higher you raise the less effective it becomes. I checked your lolking(don't build more than one item 3074 BTW) and it seems you play mostly normals(which is fine ofc), and people in normals are less oriented to close the game, meaning such gold disadvantage is less meaningful, because you have more time to make it even.

If enemy toplaner is smart, there is no need for babysit in 2v1 lane. He can just play def, even if you deny him almost all creeps you lose just as much, or more team gold - because you have no gold from jungle and two enemy lanes can play aggressive - and he will have exp advantage. Even if you take early tower you won't make it even.

IDK why people downvote you, you asked legit question and were polite.

Ok, thx, maybe you're right and in higher elos it's harder to duo top. Yeah i don't normally build it, just wanted to try on some games how many lifesteal i can get

Unless you rek the other guy, you are giving enemy team exp advantage. If enemy toplaner has a bit of brain, he won't get rekt - he has level advantage over you, he can def. There is no reason for 24h babysit like you imagine. If he misses CS, it's still ok for enemies, you have no jungler you miss even more. Two other lanes are at disadvantage. You are handing enemy free dragons, mitigating any advantage you might somehow get. You should not even dream about getting baron. Smite items are cheap and awesome, your team is getting less gold then enemy AND your build is more expensive.

Basically, it will work if enemies are not prepared for this and let you cheese them.

A better idea would be to switch the bot and top lanes so that ADC/Supp are top. This way, early objective control on the Rift Herald will result in towers, early snowballing, and most likely a team lead. Then, switch back the lanes and focus on dragons (which the jungler and former top laner should have attempted to control early game) while the top laner goes back top and continues a slower push.

If you still do this, just think about how many people you've pissed off.
