hook support champions:

  • blitzcrank Blitzcrank
  • nautilus Nautilus
  • Thresh Thresh
  • Pyke Pyke

Blitzcrank still won't be picked in worlds, mainly because every other hook champion on this list can offer better utility / teamfighting / usefulness. He's gonna wreck havoc on solo queue though. His kit is just not impactful enough compared to a Thresh's / nautilus. However, pros can dodge and generally are on par with or arguably the best of the best in the League of Legends playerbase, and even sometimes they aren't able to dodge. Most of the league playerbase are not in that caliber, and blitzcrank's new buffs are completely unnecessary.

Nautilus. Point and click cc, his hook mechanic and his initial tankiness. Also he provides more forms of cc and peel for his team and ad carry. Decent in solo queue and to abuse in lower elos, and still provides a sufficient amount for his team, and also can teamfight well due to his tankiness.

Thresh. Very well designed and high skill-cap champion. Hook stun, airborne ability, his w which can save his ad carry, and his ult for aoe slow. Offers an incredible amount of cc and utility for his team and can be played passive/aggresively. Hence why pros will pick him, and if played well, is a deciding factor of a game's outcome.

Pyke. Need I say more? Aoe execute and reset, incredible healing, mobility, and invisibility, his stun which can enngage and disengage teamfights, his passive and his ult mechanic which gives his team more gold to get ahead. His hook as an airborne, a slow, and the broken hitbox. His ability to singlehandedly become a carry as a support. Like why?

This is literally one of the worst metas I've seen so far.

I wouldn't say its one of the worst metas per se, but it is by far the most soul-defeating meta. As a support main who exclusively plays squishy enchanter supports, facing a hook champion in lane (and I guess for the rest of the game too) just feels like every single hook is an instant death that often comes out of nowhere. It's really stressful when your life hinges upon just one single skillshot on the enemy team and most hooks take less than half a second to even happen.

So fun having a mechanic that if you make one mistake and you're dead. Like the worst one here is blitz just fuck him.

Fact no pyke, blitz hook. will ever feel as good as hooking someone with boro's bola and following with zeratul's strike. See SC2 for references.

Honestly, after they nerfed away pykes invisible hook I only have an issue with blitzcrank. Thresh has always felt fair to play against despite being stronger than bliitz overall. Nautilus endangers himself when hooking but blitz is all about that hook which makes him both horrible to balance over different skill levels and ridiculously frustrating to play against.
