Resolve Tree Rune Distribution Version 2.0

A couple days ago I made a thread arguing that the Resolve Tree runes need moved around to promote a healthier game and better competition between the runes in each slot rather than simply buffing weaker runes because that would powercreep the game more than it already has been. After some more thinking I believe that I stopped a bit early and still left the tree in a less-than-perfect state. So after buckling down, theorycrafting, and asking the really tough questions for a few hours I've crafted a remake of the remade tree. This new tree solves even more problems players have been mentioning, has better competition than the last, and still solves the problems the last iteration did. So without further adieu... here is my newest and best resolve tree to date:

Keystones- Grasp of the Undying, Aftershock, Guardian

Slot 1- Second Wind, Bone Plating, Crysalis

Slot 2- Conditioning, Revitalize, Font of Life

Slot 3- Overgrowth, Demolish, Unflinching

Here's what this tree does better:

Slot 1- Second Wind, Bone Plating, Crysalis

All of the primary resolve runes which squishy champions use are compressed into a single slot. This creates a disincentive for them to pick this tree as only one of these 3 runes are available to be taken at a time. So no more ad carries or anyone else taking resolve will get 2 of these runes in order to guarantee them a safe and easy laning phase. This change does not completely negate their options if they wish to take resolve as their secondary tree, it just makes their early game less safe than it is currently. (Bone Plating and Revitalize will still be a very strong rune combination especially in conjunction with other runes such as Overheal/Absolute Focus, a heal/shield support, and/or )

Bone plating now actually has some real and viable competition. When paired against demolish and font of life there was no alternative for anyone looking for tanky stats. Players should now have a compelling choice between second wind's regen that benefits constant trading and longer fights, crysalis's guaranteed health that translates into offensive power later, or bone plating's stronger anti-burst qualities.

Slot 2- Conditioning, Revitalize, Font of Life

Supports won't be able to double dip both revitalize and font of life to provide even more healing to their adc/team than they already do. are some of the biggest offenders. Remember that Revitalize and Font of Life were both basically keystones back in the day. They should be kept separate.

Conditioning is a very strong and very attractive rune. Supports take it, tanks take it, juggernauts take it, divers take it... lots of champions like this rune. My last tree had its primary competitor as unflinching with the hopes it would create a dynamic between the champions who simply needed to soak more damage vs the champions who needed to not be stopped. When theorycrafting however... It was still clear the guaranteed stats from Conditioning after 10 minutes were still more attractive to more champions than Unflinching was. So, Revitalize and Font of Life are it's new matchups. For supports, Revitalize and Font of Life should be the go-to picks for helping their team over the selfish stats Conditioning provides. If tank supports aren't taking Conditioning then this should make tank supports less troublesome to take down. For fighters, tanks, and juggernauts? many will still take conditioning but there are plenty who will be very attracted to picking up revitalize in order to supplement their own heals and shields. It should still be an extremely attractive option for those who might prefer conditioning if their teammates are running a comp with multiple heals and shields. Overall, slot 2 feels better balanced to me when revitalize is pitted against conditioning for direct tankiness as even a lot of tanks or just general tanky champions have natural heals or shields and a lot of bruisers build lifesteal which is enhanced by this rune as well. should potentially appreciate revitalize over conditioning.

Slot 3- Overgrowth, Demolish, Unflinching

Because revitalize and conditioning are on the same slot we won't have a lot of these tanky champions with natural heals and shields being too overly unkillable since they won't get the bonus tank stats to back up their stronger heals/shields anymore. Overgrowth still provides tanks the ability to scale into big bois but it takes longer to ramp up in strength which is okay in my book.

Demolish is still great for cracking open those pesky inhibitor turrets the pros have been talking about and now they can feel better about choosing this rune since Bone Plating is in another rune slot. Fighters and teams looking to snowball the map and end the game quickly will choose demolish over the other 2 runes but won't be as tanky or as difficult to pin down as they once were as a trade-off.

Unflinching is currently losing out to revitalize in most situations in the current Resolve Tree and it was also losing in my previous remade version due to Conditioning giving solid tank stats after only 10 minutes. Now that the play field is a little more fair it should act as a better competitive option for players looking to become unstoppable forces who run right through the enemy team vs a supertank or gatebuster.

Overgrowth and Demolish cannot be picked together. Not like this has historically been an issue but Demolish does scale with bonus health so towers can take a little more of a beating from the champions who took both of these runes. Small victory.

Weaknesses of this new Resolve Tree

Font of Life. Font of Life is weak and could use a buff to make it an attractive pick among the Resolve runes. For those who are unaware, this rune used to be a Keystone called Stoneborn Pact and it was restoring 2.5% of your maximum health over 2 seconds and its effect lingered on an enemy for 4 seconds Oh, and it also gave a 5% boost to your max health. Now, it is only 1% of max health over 2 seconds and an enemy is marked for 2 seconds. That's a 60% reduction in effective healing and a 50% reduction in duration. I find it quite odd that other Keystones that have been carried over have been made to be situationally more powerful or just straight buffed (Revitalize vs Windspeaker's, Electrocute vs Thunderlord's, Courage of the Colossus vs Aftershock, Grasp of the Undying vs Grasp of the Undying etc.) while Font of Life has simply been nerfed in every way. Options at this point are either buff this rune to make it viable or switch it with something in slot 1 or slot 3. Neither of these are good options, however. Switching it with anything in slot 1 is out of the question as this would re-allow champions to pick up 2 very strong laning runes again; one of the main reasons for this entire Resolve Tree remake. Switching it with a rune in slot 3 would alternatively re-allow supports to take both it and Revitalize. Switching it with anything in slot 3 would also be a net buff to supports and a net nerf to bruisers/tanks/juggernauts who should be the primary beneficiaries of this tree. Font of Life needs to be attractive enough for supportive champions or even champions with a reliable way to proc it to want this rune over the selfish defensive stats of Conditioning or the increased shield/healing power of Revitalize.
