@Riot, As long as Thornmail's reflect damage is so STUPIDLY negligible, it'll be worthless.
Thornmail is worthless. It's a bad item. There was a time when buying a Thornmails actually meant something. Grievous wounds being added to it just turned it into a novelty pick vs high healing auto attackers (Warwick) and it's entire purpose for existence is meaningless.
The whole absolute purpose for buying Thornmail is to punish auto attacking champions for hitting you. You sacrificed buying an HP item in exchange for grabbing 100 armor plus a ton of reflect damage. You gave the enemy a choice of ether ignoring you or attacking you and taking a lot of damage in doing so.
At one point, it had 100 armor and would reflect back 30% of the damage taken. It was a strong item pick vs ADCs and AA champions.
But now? New Passive – Thorns: Upon being hit by a basic attack, reflects magic damage equal to 25 (+ 10% bonus armor), inflicting Grievous Wounds icon Grievous Wounds on the attacker for 1 second.
How on earth does that even look like a decent stat? By itself, Thornmail automatically reflects about 32.5 magic damage which adds 10% of your armor, which for the most part would be about maybe 350 - 400 late game. So even if you have 400 armor, you're only reflecting back 72.5 damage each auto attack.
So the question is, what's the point of even buying one now? The whole meaning of Thornmail is to do damage by taking damage. But now you're not even dealing that much damage anymore and if the whole point is to place grievous wounds on the target, you might as well just buy an executioner's calling.
So yeah, I don't get where you're going with Thornmail Riot. Cause right now, if you want a tanky item that deals damage, sunfire cape feels more useful than a Thornmail's right now.
