/sigh, like this is one of the problems. riot doesnt understand that none of that makes support more fun. the issue with support isnt whether or not i have redemption?!!?

It's so weird seeing people go onto the forums to ask Riot to ban them because they don't like a specific role. Just "oh, hey, guess what, I'll be on Player Behavior & Moderation here in a week to appeal for my account back" - again, so, so weird.

im not going to actually troll, i just want riot to step up to the plate, and fucking do something, anything. get off your asses and do something about it.

And yet, you've no suggestions on how they could start? No suggestions on what's paining the Support role (to you), nothing of the sort? Because, as it stands, there are a lot of issues with Support, and giving Riot at least some direction, however viable, is better than saying "I want to troll, Riot stop being lazy". Believe it or not, Riot's actually been doing a fair amount of work trying to help make the Support role more appealing.

ok fine. Im sick of being the lowest level every time i support. im sick of every other support being the lowest level in the game. every game support is the lowest level in the game.

gold income is non existent. i played a game where i went 2/3/20 or something. i had 4k less gold than anyone on my team. i had 6k gold while the next nearest had 10k gold.

no 1v1 potential. want to know why i try to play ap mages bot and most people play ap mages bot? they have 1v1 potential and they can defend themselves.

the thing that draws me off personally and which kind of ties into the ap mages bot..... the whole concept of me following a person around the map and shielding them and healing them is so boring to me.

the best thing they could do to make support more enjoyable is to encourage mages to go bot.

TwinkiePro1 votes

why the hell do you try to 1v1 as SUPPORT?! Your role is to support, so naturally that requires another player.

Umbral Regent1 votes

As it turns out, the first two are fairly common stances. EXP and Gold income are both problems that Riot has said they're looking into ways to buff up for Support - and, even recently, they did buff some of the Gold income problems with Ward Revealing gold - sharing the gold of a Ward's destruction by both the person who reveals it with the sweeping lens, and the person who destroyed it with a last-hit. It's not a perfect solution, but it's a holistic part of it.

For me, less experience and being at the lower levels is less of an issue and more of a draw or a challenge - but, that's only a personal observation of it. Being able to play from behind is a good skill asset to have, and Supports, as it stands, are a good way to get better at that - though, that doesn't make it any less of an issue.

As for dueling potential, there's probably an even argument on both sides - if you're skilled enough, dueling as a Leona can be pretty easy and pretty amusing, but in most cases, Supports do not actually have the tools to thrive without their carry, or without some form of assistance. (though, Bard and Blitzcrank seem to be ignorant to that.)

That being said, I'm not sure that giving Supports dueling potential is really a good avenue to go with potential buffs, since Supports are kind of meant to compliment their carry, not be the carry. And that "be the carry" attitude is another reason why people play Mages bot, not just for the duel potential, but so they can keep shining even in a role that's meant to help others shine.

And, even saying that is pretty subjective and exclusionary on my part, because I'm primarily saying "well supports shouldn't be carries" - but, that doesn't mean Supports don't actually have carry potential, and it sure as hell doesn't mean that Supports suck without someone to big up. I've played matches where I've been called "god Alistar" or "god Leona" - and, granted, those were maybe two, three matches out of hundreds that I've played, it still shows that there can be a gratifying experience to be had with traditional Supports.

Generally speaking; there's enough encouragement for Mages to play as Supports - they get gold income from poke with Spell Thief's Edge (and its upgrades), they can safely defend tower from a range while their carry has recalled, gaining even more gold, and they have a high probability of securing kills, netting them even more gold (that can still be beneficial as long as their carry gets assist gold). Mage Supports have a helluva lot of leg room, I don't really think they need much more.

Regardless of my disposition of Mage Supports and the subjectivity about the Support role and dueling, I do agree that more work needs to be done about Support Experience and Gold gain, but I'm confident in Riot's persistent efforts to resolve it.

if they fixed the gold and exp problem it would be great start. At least they would be acknowledging a huge part of the frustration that players have with this role. That would be fine for now.

ZURELL1 votes

question.--im not gonna get into this arguement all the way becuz honestly both of u are stupid but--- are you saying not having a solution to a problem disqualifies you from stating that there is one? just wondering. awareness is a means to a solution. and while it's been adressed by players before, more confrontation is a means to a end of the confronation (theoretically. people are stupid and often continue to fight even after forgetting why they did in the first place.)

Umbral Regent1 votes

I can't disqualify someone from stating that there is a problem, true - but my issue was that they started simply by saying "I'm going to troll because Riot doesn't do x" - which, the first half was a bluff, and the other a blatant lie. That they would rather taunt and jibe about an issue than comment on the problem is my biggest gripe with their post. This also doesn't justify my way of goading a response, but it's still a glaring problem either way.

Stating that there are problems is one thing, but alluding to problems by ignoring the work done to fix them and bluffing to become a target of reports is another.

Some of the most overpowered items in the game are Support items. item 3107 and item 3190 can make or break games.

Pretty much every other Support item aside from item 3504 for healing/shielding champions sucks though.

The only thing I really hate about playing support is how starved for XP you are. That makes you so reliant on your ADC, and we don't always get nice ADCs.

DemainaNyx1 votes

You aren't reliant on your ADC though. You're reliant on your team. If you have a 20/4 Riven who's 1v5ing, you're better off protecting them than the ADC whose's 2/10.

LEEROY KLEDKINS1 votes

Think of playing support as the role to piss off the enemy adc.

Playing support doesn't bother me, it just means i can make my team feel comfortable that i'm ok with my role without them fearing of having a troll... since its my main and most played role.

Also support is pretty laid back also if you're a good spirited person you can chill your team mates out.

Sadly this season I don't really play LoL much, I just chill around forums these days and LoL forums is full of funny memesters.

Just pick tahm kench, or improve on taric, black cleaver miss fortune, ap nasus for the support roles.

Make sure you explain what you're gonna do with that champion and their build.

Please don't troll in future games. if you're feeling stressed then just stop playing, come chill with us in the forums man.
