So I've said it multiple times but here it goes again ''Every Karma spell has a right moment when to be used in order to surprise any ennemies''
That's okay. I haven't been on the NA forums before today, so we've probably never met.
On your point though: I think this has been more true before 5.10, especially with the shieldbomb.
It takes 2 second in order to fully root the target. Meanwhile you'll have plenty of time to around to hit the target proprely
And they have time to hide behind something. Since it's a "crowded area", the crowd might even want to place themselves between you and your target...
You can basically root a target up to 3.25 second for your team. I don't see any root target spell that last longuer than Karma's W
It's Karma's RW, not W. And yes, 3.25 is the longest root ingame.
But if you want to compare: Morgana's Q does more damage, is safer/faster to apply and has a lower cooldown, while only being outdone in rootime when Karma maxed both her W and R. Which can only happen at lvl16+. From lvl9-16 Morgana's Q is superior. Yes it can miss, but you can also use it to fish for catches and don't lose a lot, while Karma has to all in to even attempt hitting it.
Why wouldn't a 20 mana cost reduction be usefull? Karma is one of the few champions that only received buffs since her new release (The old Karma Never had any buffs or nerfs)
It is "useful", yes, but not necessarily what Karma "needs". Karma keeps getting buffed and still drowns in irrelevancy. So sheer power is clearly not the problem. If versatility was her supposed strength, then Riot made a misstake with 5.10. If something else is, I fail to see it.
She did get buffed 3 times between release and first rework. Once after a month, then a second time another month later and then half a year before her rework. But yes, Karma only ever was buffed, reworked or bugfixed.
Karma can afford to miss her bind because of the low cooldowns of her spells.
It's more due to her E. Karma's W has 12s cooldown, Morgana's Q has 11s, Zyra has 12s, Lux 15-11s. But for Karma it's just more of a bonus to root someone, because her speed and slows already make her safe.
Karma isn't a squishy mage. In fact, my Lolking guide on karma is called Miss bait.
In stats, she is. In most successful builds, she is. Yes, her kit can be baity, but with the delay on her RW and the missfitting heal, she just doesn't really fulfill this role anymore. Any champion with a heal/shield or untargetability keeps up with her. It was different with her bigger shield and instant RQ-heal, that didn't need a target AND had a flat heal attached. And when she still got ridiculous amounts of AP. Oh and also before there was executioners and before everyone built morellos, and.....
For a champion like Karma that relies on her team to perform well she should always be with someone.
She was reworked for literally this reason. To not be reliant on her team anymore.
Nothing prevents you from waiting her mantra to come back in without staying near ennemies O.o .
Yes, but in those 2.5+ seconds they can hurt you. Which they should.
In terms of counterplay: They can either try to engage you and outtrade you, now that you gave up on 50% of your damage. Or they can disengage, deny half of the heal and then abuse the next 35s in which you don't have either available.
In Malzahar's case, I dont even know why you are comparing his E with Karma's root.
Malz is the next closest point-and-click-DoT on a mage, LeBlanc is the next closest tether. Correct me if you find more comparable spells, to validate how balanced the ratio is.
When comparing a spell, I've learned that you need to see the champion's whole kit before criticizing.
Why would you then talk that much about W only?
What I meant in this post was that you don't need to use R+W in order to deal extra damage
What people tend to forget is the base damage RW granted.
Old W -> 60+60%
Old RW -> 120+120%
New RW -> 60+90% and +0.5s root.
Even on max level, the difference was noticeable. 260+90% VS 560+120% made it a viable choice vs RQ. More importantly, both RW and RE added MORE damage than RQ, if the second detonation wouldn't land. Yes, her W is better now, but it ruined the decision making for her Mantra.... "differentiate Karma's contextual decision making when selecting an ability to Mantra" my ass -_- .....
Sorry I missunderstood you there. But if you managed to target the champion... I mean, you'll eventually root him right? Unless he flash away or do some blinky stuff like Leblanc.
Nevermind it, bro. I gave you a lot to read.
Yes, you force them into doing something. But they have about 2s, to escape 325units. Half of which they can run in the time it takes you to cast W, even without boots. If they manage to slow you for 50% for another 1s, they are out. If you decide to cast Q to slow them, the tether can break the second your Q leaves your hands. If you use E, you can catch up the distance you lost for casting W. And even then you most likely spent two spells and 2.5s chasing someone to root him for 1.0 seconds, if this is happens before lvl14 (which catches and chases usually do).
I am sorry, if I am rambling. My point is: The moment this effort can be afforded by Karma and results in a protected ADC or a caught champ or whatever, any other support could've done the same more reliably, faster or with less effort. Especially with the new FQC.
I don't want to just complain, without making suggestions myself, so maybe you want to have a look at my rework suggestions? You can find it here Any input is appreciated. Even the harsh ones. Even more so the harsh ones.
