Stop reworking champions and just make item counters..

Seriously, i'm sick of it.

The ryze rework is fun no doubt, but it's not ryze to me, the shen rework is fun, but he doesn't feel like shen anymore.... and the sion rework was an amazing new champ that all old sion mains don't like

Make a new freaking champion instead of completely gutting out old ones.

if something is underplayed because of theme, leave it, there are lots of fans and if the winrate is fine the champ don't need changing.

if something is underplayed because it is too weak, buff it

if something was made intentionally weak because it was too strong, and thus is underplayed, give it the old power back and make itemization counters.

Example A.) Vlad and Aatrox are daemons, BUT there is an AD item that counters them pretty decently, and the AP variant could use the flat buff in all honesty., to me vlad was not strong enough to demand a nerf, i'd just build Executioners and a maw then call it a day.

Example B.) The sion rework was a masterpiece.. but he was essentially a completely different champion, down to his personality. The malzahar rework was cool i guess, but all you did was break him at his core and remove the utility of his old W with mask+rylais. for the zone control... in return you gave him an ability that while really cool, is completely unbalancable and wasted both company resources and player's time. Why even master a champ who's going to be brought down to yorick status until his eventual rework?

I'm just gonna throw this out there, I mained old sion, I mained old shen, I mained old malzahar. I loved the last ryze but didn't want to touch him because i knew you would guy my favorite part about him (The ult) And you did.

all this time and effort being put into reworking champions who are basically fine could be put into making new champions who have the same level of quality as Jinx, or Kindred, on their releases.

seriously you're reworks have driven multiple of my friends to quit.

Oh yeah because item counters are soooo much fun. It always ends up with the the buyer feeling like shit having to spend his gold on an inefficient item and then the victim also feeling like shit because now he gets shut down at the push of the QSS button.

Riot is basically saying, "Whomever likes these champions the way they are, fuck them there aren't many of them anyway. They're acceptable losses. Let's change this so more people play them even though those other people will lose a champ they love and the players that don't currently play them will maybe play them once for the novelty."

Seriously fuck Riot. I stopped playing this shit game officially after they raped Gangplank back in July 2015. Old Gangplank mains hate the new Gangplank, and he is played just as little as ever. Only difference is that he isn't fun AT ALL now, he is a shell of his former self. Kind of like the whole game, a shell of it's former self.

There is no fun left to be had, and anything that is kinda out there, or non-meta? Don't worry, it'll be removed soon enough. Riot doesn't like fun things that they didn't intend. Fuck Riot, fuck this game. Season 2 was the best, and Season 4 and beyond are garbage.

No, old champions with extremely dated and irrelevant kits NEED updating. I'd rather them stop making new champs if they instead solely focused on updating old champs so they looked and played as good as modern champs, which is exactly what has happened with Poppy, Sion, Ryze, and Taric, despite the QQ from their former mains. Against what they claim, the old versions of those champs were pretty terrible. Sion was a stun bot who hoped to catch someone. Poppy was a one trick pony ult bot who acted like an assassin more than a tank. Ryze was just utterly broken and needed to be reworked from the ground up. Taric was also a stun bot who gave out invisible stats. All of them needed a hell of a lot of work, and, as a Taric main, while I do miss the targeted E and R, the update made him so much better and actually playable. All of the ancient champs need this kind of attention and it only helps the game to reinvent them. Champs like Evelynn, Jax, Pantheon, Cho'gath, Mordekaiser, and Urgot all look pretty terrible, and their kits are either clunky, horribly unbalanced, or just boring. So bring on the reworks.

Sion literally kept one ability from his old kit, he's not even the same champion remotely, ryze was totally fine last rendition before the reworked him, same as the ryze before that. Taric was totally fun. The invisible stats thing, shatter, his old heal, his old ultimate, those were things i loved

I loved old taric, and regardless of how good the rework is, it's not a rework. they deleted taric from the game, made a completely new champion, and then gave him the same name.. hell the lore aint even the same

poppy wasn't a tank before her rework she was a fighter and still is now there is just no point to build damage and get smashed

did anyone else realize this kid didn't know what he was talking about when he said "if somethings weak buff it"?

So in ur opinion Rito shouldn't change old outdated champions(ww,yorick, old poppy etc) with kits that dont have a place in today's LOL just because that champs have some litle fanbase? Dude no one plays yorick,ww...

What is even outdated about them? And i play yorick.

What because riot nerfed them into the ground when the meta wasn't even formed I should feel like the champs deserve to be reworked?

Yorick if slightly viable becomes a nightmare for top laners. Have you played against him back in season 2/3? It was completely ridiculous, but as it was his one and only strenght it was ok for him to be able to take you from full to half health with 2 or 3 ghosts, while also healing from any poke you managed to inflict on him.

He's the kind of champion that cannot be viable. It sucks for the one players who like him, but for the rest of the player base it's extremely toxic.

Kinda like old Poppy. 50% damage reduction on anything that dealt more than 10% of her hp for free. Tank buster, low CD Q. Free steroids on her W and a fuck your whole team Ulr. Lots of thing she did well, but couldn't specialize in any of those, because each of those things were what defined her for different parts of her player base.

Old Sion was a mess. He could point and click stun someone and walk up to them to burst them down with his massive shield, which lead to very binary situations (either the target cleansed the stun and walked away, turning Sion into a useless dead weight, or they died. No happy middle). Or he could become an overpowered ball of stats if going AD, with steroids coming out of his ass. Again, an awful design for today's standarts.

Taric was very meh. He was nothing but a stun bot that gave you syntetic gold. Apart from that, the most he could do was body block skill shots or tank turrets.

They all needed reworks, either for their sake or for the sake of other players.

I truly loved playing old Graves with his stupidly fast burst, but he had fallen in exactly the same niche as Lucian creating a situation that playing one of them would be stupid in the exact moment the other became a bit stronger. He also failed to fit in his fantasy.

Reworks are a necessity for the game, as everything is changing over time.

ok but why even bother remaking a champion if its not the same champion?

the current yorick rework concept that i've heard about is going the be the same issue as malzahar.. too many minions gonna get permabanned and then nerfed into the ground

Malz is already on that track

Riot is left with 3 options when a champion has a kit like that:

  • Let them fall into oblivion by their own. This is what happened to Taric, for example. It's also what's happening to Warwick right now. This leads to a not so toxic champion, but makes them an overall worst pick than their counterparts.

  • Nerf them into oblivion. This is made when a champion has an extremely toxic kit. This is the case of Yorick and old Poppy. They were unhealthy for the game, despite being loved by their players.

  • Rework them into something different. This, while pissing their ridiculously small fan base, is the best option. It allows their fantasy and concept to survive, with a hopefully fair and balanced gameplay.

Who cares if they are barely played? SOMEONE likes that champion. Everyone has a main, and even if that champ only has one person maining them, should they be ripped away from them?

Someone plays those champions and I'm sure that when they rape those champs the people who like them the way they are now will quit, like I did when they raped Gangplank. Why should those people not be allowed to have fun in this game just because Riot doesn't want to bother balancing the champions the way they are?
