Ashe Q - What's the point?

I'm having a little trouble understanding why Ashe's Q is the way it is.

From what it seems, 5 arrows being fired per auto attack doesn't really serve any real purpose. It's a 20/25/30/35/40% attack speed steroid that adds 5/10/15/20/25% damage to your AAs.

It doesn't seem to have any effect on on-hit effects or on something like Pantheon's passive (which blocks all 5 arrows). Additionally, it doesn't seem like the first of the five arrows of a single shot applies frost shot in order for the other four to benefit from the bonus damage.

Is there any other potential effect to the volley of arrows besides it looking cool? I'm totally fine with it if that's the case, I'm just wondering if I'm missing out on Ashe's potential by not fully understanding the benefits of her Q active.

Thanks!

It applies fully stacked Black Cleaver all at once if you go that route.

The steroid represents about a 26% to 75% damage increase to Ashe's autoattack DPS, and as others have mentioned it lets you apply full Black Cleaver stacks in one go. It's not the most ridiculously strong effect out there, but it looks cool and feels rewarding, which is enough to warrant it taking up an ability slot.

Make her stronger over time

it's an attack speed steroid mainly. the second arrow you shoot from it should hit pantheon after he blocks.

While it does stack black cleaver pretty much all the way with one auto, I'm fairly certain the main point is visual clarity since that steroid represents a massive increase in Ashe's damage and her autoattacks are pretty easy to miss in base form.

Stacking BC with it, and not sure if still the case, but runaans also shoots 5 bolts which tend to spreat over multiple targets, so you have more reliable aoe damage/slow from that with Q. Not sure if crit is calculated for the full salvo or each of the shots. if its the later, it would increase the chance of getting a crit for stronger slow quite alot.

But it's mostly for style reasons, just like the W from Xayah.
