Imho a big problem in "fixing" marksmen is that they're all lumped together in the same subclass

Even though they play more similar to other subclasses than to one another: Sivir plays a lot like a battlemage Ezreal plays a lot like an artillery mage Vayne plays a lot like a skirmisher Etc

Imho the first step in actually making them viable and balanced is to finally recognize this, to finally recognize that, for example, when discussing balance Sivir is better associated with Karthus than with Jihn.

Yes i agree with you, but another problem is that "ranged autoattack DPS" is not enough to define a class.

Still trying to find out what Karthus and Sivir have in common, other than dealing damage and being ranged.

I think Jihn is more of a battlemage then Sivir lol.

Jihn is a viable Hecarim.

Subclasses do this to all of the champions, not just marksmen.

Not that it necessarily matters if they have official subclasses, only if their development team actually makes changes based around these hypothetical ideal embodiment of a subclass/class rather than the actual instances of champions that can be roughly categorized into these groups.
