Riot probably could have done a better job on the inspiration preset

I think most of the preset rune pages are fine. Precision and domination look just right. There's one I think riot really goofed up on: Inspiration. Here's my beef with it. These presets are for newer players and for people who only have 1-2 rune pages. You need to make sure they are the best options available for people with those profiles. The Inspiration preset is too esoteric to be any good.

  1. Swap Kleptomancy in for spell swap. Spell swap is just terrible and messing up the keystone isn't an option.
  2. Swap the boots in for future's market. Everyone but cass players should be able to use it.
  3. Iron skin is crap, particularly because no kleptomancy (it'd still be bad but at least have synergy), go for conditioning instead.

Kleptomancy is only good for Champions who scale very well with the extra bit of gold, and can use most of the random consumables effectively. Spell Swap gives you a flat 25% CDR for summoner spells, which is pretty good in itself, and the ability to react to a lot of situations throughout the game; Exhaust when an assassin gets fed, Ignite when you're dealing with heavy sustain, Smite when you need to control objectives, etc. Though I will say that neither of them approach the power of Glacial Augment, or most of the other keystones.

Magical Footwear is a punishing noob trap. Going the first 10 minutes of the game at base movespeed is just asking to never catch anyone, or never escape anyone, or never get where you need to be in time. Not to mention logistics like trading stance, kiting, dodging skillshots, and so on. Future's Market has way more accessible use, allowing people to offset backing at bad times and complete key items earlier.

Iron skin isn't even in Inspiration, but it's still usually the best of its tier because you take less damage from minions in lane or monsters in the jungle. Plus, not every Champion fights with abilities early game, but they all use their auto attacks.
